I was gifted ‘CAPTAIN INTENSE,’ and since it’s not in the database, I’m posting my review here. Notes: bergamot, ginger, lavender, violet, tonka, and ‘amber wood.’ I’m not a critic, but this fragrance puts me in a bad mood. It smells sweet at first, then fresh and woody, but generic and inspired by Sauvage with inferior quality. The evolution is fast: after an hour, it smells more like MontBlanc Individuel than this. It’s called ‘Intense’ but it’s not, and it claims to be Eau de Parfum when the base says 80% Alcohol, just like Quartz. It’s a rip-off. And the price: $900 for 100ml, when Le Male by JPG costs a bit more and is better. They can’t be compared.
Reviewing an old 1984 bottle and a new 2018 one. They are TOTALLY DIFFERENT; this isn’t a reformulation. The 1986 version was strong, masculine, with patchouli, cinnamon, pine, and lavender—dark and complex. The current one is like the Colbert Space: generic, low quality, but cheap. In Argentina, at that price, I’d recommend Lapidus Hombre, Black Extreme, or the Jacques Bogart line. Leave the new Captain on the shelf. Greetings from Argentina.
A friend owns it, and what a great fragrance. It’s an exquisite fougère with echoes of Couros and Terre d’Hermès. Charming, stylish, and very much an 80s scent. It’s so far from today’s commercial perfumes that it feels novel to anyone who hasn’t tried it. Honestly, I was really pleased to smell something like this.
Captain Molyneux is a sublime, natural green fougère—very sparkling and soapy. The ingredient blend is surprising; there’s an abundance of naturals and a lack of today’s chemical molecules. You get real Virginia cedar instead of ISO E Super, a beautiful contrast that makes it superior. It’s a natural oasis compared to current perfumes. Intense, bold, and cheerful, it’s a timeless classic like a leather jacket or a pair of All-Stars. Packed with nature: lavender, anise, musk, and woods. A true reconciliation with the pure art of perfumery.
A global classic created by Jean Martel in 1975 that revolutionized modern perfumery. It’s a 100% masculine and elegant green fougère with an exquisite scent. It was my go-to fragrance in the 90s and made me stand out, but unfortunately, it’s no longer available.
