At first, you notice cedar, lemon, and orange. After a few minutes, the fig is already felt. At four hours, fig and soft woods. At eight hours, a residual musk. The opening is nice due to the cedar, and the fig isn’t bad, but the trail, which starts moderate, collapses quickly to weak and skin-close. It could be woody, but with extremely soft woods. Spring vibes and daytime use. With over-application, it lasted a bit more than eight hours.
Smells like just-showered with soap and citrus. I bought it when it launched and it promised a lot for a fresh mid-range scent. I loved the first three bottles: extremely clean opening, feeling like I’d been showered for six hours, a very pleasant soapy and citrusy scent for both myself and others. Little evolution but very pretty. I loved having an ideal office scent at an accessible price, “but”… when I went back to buy four more bottles, I was disappointed. It seems reformulated: it lost longevity and projection. It’s still fresh and clean but without punch; the price-to-quality ratio is no longer worth it when there are better fresh options. On the fourth bottle of the new batch, I realized it had lost its strength and stopped buying it; repeatedly over-applying it was never on my plans. It was very good, but two things changed: first, since 2000 I don’t know if it recovered the excellent value of the 2000 gold bottles; second, countless fresh and clean mid-range options appeared (before choices were limited). – Scent: 8 – Value: 4 – Longevity: 3 – Projection: 3 – Versatility: 9
Undoubtedly the best of Molyneux: sophisticated, perfect for spring and summer nights. A unique fragrance. Highly recommended.
My return to Modern Quartz Men by Molyneux, which I used years ago and bought again. It opens with citrus and herbs (rosemary is noticeable), but the citrus dominates before moving to a woody heart. The base notes aren’t felt because the trail is short; at four hours, it’s just skin-close. It’s sober, perfect for the office, and non-invasive. The initial projection lasts about half an hour. To my taste, it’s for formal wear or casual dates. It shines in the morning during autumn and spring; in summer or winter, it goes unnoticed. I don’t recommend it for night due to its poor trail, though anyone can use it if they want. In summary: formal and casual, ideal for mild days, clean feeling.

In short: formal and casual, ideal for mild days, giving a crisp, clean feeling.
Rich but very soft… Rosemary and lemon kick off with personality. Then it turns down the volume and becomes more woody; the citrus lingers but is harmless. You can smell the eucalyptus, which is great, but it’s all skin-close. I see this as a personal treat, maybe at home after a shower. Scent: 7/10 Sillage: 2/10 Longevity: 2/10 Too bad it doesn’t work so well on my skin, because honestly, it’s a great perfume.
Brutal scent: starts with sharp yet rounded citrus and herbs, not aggressive but softened by a warm floral note that makes it seductive and kind. Sandalwood adds creaminess and warmth. Soft but with character, masculine and mysterious. Ideal for the office without bothering anyone, or for romantic dates.
