Beige Eau de Parfum by Chanel

Beige is very pretty and very plain. It’s very Chanel. Falling in love with it depends on your tastes, because in the lottery of great perfumes it has few chances. The quality is undeniable, nothing artificial or plastic. It’s refined and fine. The notes don’t match what I felt, but knowing them I integrate them into the impression. Blindly I swore it carried aldehydes, ylang, leather, or vanilla-myrh. I just saw it’s honey. Really? I thought it was soft lily with ylang and myrrh. It’s honey, but not the muddy, dripping kind… Removing the initial waxy vapor and outdated part, which I love because it’s very Chanel, the rest I thought was jasmine and ylang. It’s ylang for real and woods or suede sweetened. Now that I know it’s honey, it does fit. Forget sugary and suffocating honey; Beige’s honey is transparent, sweet, luminous, with a breeze texture. What I thought was jasmine is probably freesia and frangipani, sweet and luminous white flowers, without fecal notes. Beige is the Chanel version of exotic flowers that ruin your eyes in cheap perfumes, but here they are so integrated it’s pure Chanel. It smells like Rue Cambon, to an elegant salon on Place Vendome, surrounded by well-educated people. It’s 100% Chanel, executed with grace. Although I don’t like its sweetness, it’s done well here. Yes, it’s boring. Pretty and boring. PS: I found it feminine. The hawthorn smells sweet and sometimes almond-like, just like the frangipani, which I confused with sweet suede or leather when tasting it. Longevity is moderately decent, but the trail is short.

It’s a prodigious floral meticulously crafted by Chanel to not block the senses and give beauty without killing it. It opens bitter/spiced with hawthorn flower, the touches of ambrette sweeten it a bit. The hawthorn flowers are intense and spicy, but Chanel works them well so they don’t prick. Then it adds juicy plumeria in the heart and the modern, light freesia that completes the honey accord. What characterizes it is the balance, that going back and forth between bitter and sweet floral. It’s for feeling good and making a dreamy parenthesis in a perfect garden. It’s beautiful in its naturalness and has a touch of mischief. It represents Chanel with rectitude and minimalism, but it’s not simple; its simplicity is key to having personality without overwhelming. I don’t think it’s one of the best-sellers because it’s a rare and unusual scent. I’m crazy about it from the start; I wish it wasn’t luxury so I could use it as a daily signature. It delivers for smelling divine. This review is for the EDP, the EDT is similar but deeper in hawthorn and less in honey. The trail and longevity are the same in both. The trail depends on the skin, but in my case Beige lasts hours. It’s a floral that smells strong on my skin and Chanel works well. I recommend trying it with generous sprays, you might be surprised.

If I had to choose one word, it would be JOY. It’s luminous, elegant, and sophisticated. Every time I wear it, I feel like I’m in a cloud of freshness and cleanliness. The floral and honey notes on my skin are balanced and very sweet. It’s like stepping out of the shower with a luxury cream and a gentle breeze of sunshine. It lasts more than 8 hours and I always notice it. It’s great for warm days, though it works all year round thanks to that clean touch. Although it’s more feminine, on a man’s skin it highlights the clean floral side and people always compliment me. It suits any occasion; you project elegance and kindness. It’s linear, without many changes, although at the end the floral predominates without losing the cleanliness. The bottle is classic, straight lines with curves and a magnetic cap. Be careful opening the box, it falls out easily. It’s one of my first high-end perfumes and I remember the feeling of the first time. I can’t stop smelling myself. It gives me tenderness, reminds me of my home country and a happy childhood. Definitely one of my favorites, it gives me peace and confidence; don’t hesitate to try it.

I haven’t tried anything for months, so I’m a bit out of practice with notes. Sorry for the poverty in descriptions. Never has a fragrance name seemed so apt to me. Beige is class and elegance, but also restraint and boredom, which is exactly what it is: a precious, elegant, and plain little thing. On my skin, creamy white flowers stand out, similar to those in Floris’s Bouquet de la Reine, which remind me of a sophisticated wedding. The trail is non-existent (it’s “beige”!), but I was still smelling it at 12 hours. It’s for short distances and I would love to wear it daily if it weren’t so expensive. Since it’s similar to Floris’s (which costs less than 70 € online), I would lean towards the British one. Despite everything, Beige is a gem I enjoyed this morning.

A Chanel masterpiece: if elegance and delicacy have a name, it’s Beige. It’s pricey, and I committed the madness of buying it blind, but thank God I nailed it. It bears the undeniable seal of the house, with the quality of its ingredients. I don’t see it as an old-lady perfume; on the contrary, anyone can wear it regardless of age, but it has a youthful and delicate touch that makes you feel wonderful when wearing it.
