  • I just returned from London and had the luck of trying Alexandria II Anniversary at Harrods. It’s a fragrance that transports you, blending the old and the new with incredible mastery. Imagine a smoky and woody aroma, but with fresh touches of green apple and lavender, and that elegance of the rose. It’s complex, with lavender, rose, and a spicy touch that envelops you. The heart is a deep blend of oud and amber, but what really surprised me was how it softened towards the end, with vanilla and sandalwood. It feels like a journey, from history to the present, all in one scent. And that bottle with its gold details, pure elegance!

  • It’s not the Amore. This anniversary edition was born in Mexico while Christian Carbonell walked among the pyramids. It smells like the original Alexandria, but in my view, it leans closer to the II, though more polished and without that rough oud texture (neither good nor bad). The big difference is that animalic, sweaty, sharp base that doesn’t choke the blend and balances it out. Unlike perfumes like Jungle Jezebel or Oudh Infini, where the civet is excessive, here it is moderate and gives a rougher touch to the II. After 2-3 hours, the civet fades, leaving a softer II. It’s masculine, versatile but limited. €580 for 100ml is an abusive price; I would have preferred €400 for 50ml, because you won’t finish a bottle like this. Compared to Imperiale, Orientale, or A III, it has its spot, but against the II it feels redundant. Good perfume, few changes, and very expensive. I stick with the II and my great favorite, Orientale.

  • 🇮🇹 This is not a love story 🇮🇹 This anniversary version was conceived in Mexico while Christian Carbonell walked among the pyramids. A fragrance reminiscent of the original Alexandria. However, in my opinion, this anniversary version is very similar to Alexandria II, though it feels a bit more polished and the oud doesn’t have that rough texture (nothing negative or positive about this). It’s just a description. There are really few differences, but the most noticeable one is that in the dry down, you get a slightly sharp, sweaty animalic tone that doesn’t overwhelm the composition and is perfect because there is a balance. There are perfumes like Jungle Jezebel or Oudh Infini (discontinued, by the way) where the use of civet is… excessive. In Alexandria X (Anniversary), it’s a moderate animalic tone that contrasts and makes this perfume a rougher version of Alexandria II. After 2-3 hours, the civet fades to leave a slightly softer Alexandria II. Masculine, good versatility performance, though somewhat restricted. €580 for 100ml is a very high price for what it offers. I would have liked to see it at €400 for 50ml. In life, you’ll never finish a 100ml bottle of this. If we compare it to other Alexandria versions like Imperiale, Orientale, and A III, it has its place and is different, but comparing it directly against A II feels a bit redundant. Good perfume, but few changes and very expensive for what it offers. I still stick with A II and my great favorite, Orientale.

  • A delightful fragrance, a gem in perfumery, my favorite of the Alexandria line and my entire collection until today. It shares the same DNA as its siblings but feels more elegant and sophisticated. Those oud and wood notes blend perfectly with rose and lavender, with a slight animalic and vanilla touch. Excellent longevity and performance. For me, a 10/10.

  • Excellent perfume. Until now, my favorite in the saga was Alexandria II, but after several years in perfumery and getting to know oud better, the Anniversary has become my favorite, dethroning the original. Basically, if you know the II, you take the same base and add a more prominent oud from the start, like Orientale, and gradually lower it until you reach the original base of the II. Eduardo in MSJ commented that it feels like the next step, an evolution of the AII, and he’s very right. We lose the magic of the AII’s opening, but we gain in depth, longevity, and projection. It’s a delicate matter, but the AII has lost performance over the years; before it lasted 7-8 hours, not so much now. This Anniversary lasts over 12 hours on skin and I’ve smelled it on clothes for over 24 hours without exaggeration. In short, if you like oud or already have experience, the Anniversary will seem like a masterpiece to you.

  • Polydistortion

The most incompatible with my DNA: I tried it at a blind test and everyone was shocked by how bad it smells on my skin, literally very fecal.
