Smells like patchouli but with a classic sweet, resinous, and spicy base. I was surprised that, even though rum isn’t an official note, it’s very noticeable right when you open it. It’s a beautiful, warm, almost hot, earthy, and sweet scent. A powerful masculine fragrance; your grandfather probably was the type who never asks. In the mid-phase and as it dries down, it joins what I call a ‘masculine accord,’ without a more precise term. The old-school patchouli combined with lots of tonka creates that motorcycle and leather jacket vibe that defines the brand. Pleasant and massive sandalwood appears more towards the end, with vanilla edging in and hitting hard, making it a very manly fragrance that shines more after an hour. But you have to really love the main note because the persistence is notable and it’s ideal for autumn and winter.
Very pleasant surprise thanks to Jerry Drake. Patchouli doesn’t smell like orange as its name might suggest, but rather invites you to try it. At first, it’s potent with an 80s and 90s profile—earthy and almost chocolatey. Then it shifts into a sharper, brighter, fresher phase, feeling less heavy. After a few minutes, the fragrance jumps decades ahead, landing in a modern era with a soft, honeyed sweetness, likely from benzoin, vanilla, and tonka bean, which feels more resinous than sweet. It blends with soft, creamy woods. The musk tempers the sharpness of the patchouli, though sometimes I catch those wet, earthy notes that give it movement. I loved how Melanie Leroux took 90s patchouli and gave it a modern twist, creating a huge, elegant, urban, and vibrant signature scent. Honeyed patchouli with soft woods and lasting creaminess, with good projection. It’s versatile except in extreme heat, perfect for work or smart casual wear. While it has 90s echoes, it doesn’t smell like anything worn today, so I’m sure it will surprise and please anyone who enjoys this delightful find.
A very welcome surprise thanks to Jerry Drake. Patchouli doesn’t smell like orange as its name might suggest, but rather invites you to try it. At first, it’s potent, evoking the 80s and 90s, earthy and almost chocolatey, but then it shifts into a sharper, brighter, fresher, and lighter phase. After a few minutes, the fragrance jumps decades: in its mid-phase, it gains a soft, honeyed sweetness from benzoin, vanilla, and tonka bean, which feels more resinous than sweet. It blends with soft, creamy woods. The musk calms the initial intensity, though sometimes those wet, earthy memories that give it movement persist.
