This house’s fragrances are by Helene Vonesch and Sebastien Lacouture, both from Firmenich, and Sebastien wins by a landslide. My two favorites in this niche, Lophiel and this Haniel, are his creations. It’s a real shame that Haniel is clearly feminine, but it’s truly a charming perfume. It opens fruity with an incredibly well-executed ripe lychee note, accompanied by herbal greenness and peony nuances. As it dries, the fruity and herbal notes recede slightly, giving way to a talc-like sensation with a rose aroma, though the rose isn’t the star—it’s just one element in the blend. A very subtle wood emerges to provide support. From the first moment, its projection is moderate, though it has good sillage. Lasts over 8 hours on me, though the final hour is very close to the skin. Perfect for this spring that’s already starting. Highly recommended if you find it for €20 like I did; you get a charming perfume at a Zara price with quality that feels much better. Another matter is paying €177 as listed on the brand’s website. Clearly, this perfume isn’t worth that outrageous markup. To me, this sounds like the Spanish lab that makes Lophiel’s perfumes was left with leftover stock, which they’re selling at a bargain price to minimize losses.
