Descripción

Cacao Porcelana by Atelier Materi is an oriental woody fragrance for men and women. Launched in 2019, the nose behind this composition is Marie Hugentobler. The top notes reveal cocoa pod, rum, and periwinkle; the heart unfolds tobacco, white flower, davana, and Indian jasmine; while the base notes close the pyramid with tonka bean, patchouli, and sandalwood.

  • Beautiful, sensual, and nuanced. Bitter cocoa, rum, spices, and white florals. Elegance and sensuality for men and women.

  • A couple of days ago, I got lucky and tried the fragrances from this house at Le Secret du Marais, their only distributor in Madrid. Out of the whole collection, the two that fit my skin best were this one and Narcisse Taiji. Since there are still very few reviews, I’ll share my impressions. To start, I loved both. Cacao Porcelana is a scent based on dark, powdery cocoa, far from the gourmands with very sweet chocolate tints we’re used to. It also has an earthy hint coming from patchouli. Despite its listed notes, I don’t feel much floral or too boozy, except in the first few minutes. Although I love it and find it very original, it has things that remind me of other perfumes in my collection. Basically three: Bohemian Oud by Zara (with a very similar profile but with a much higher incense charge), Andalusian Soul by The Merchant of Venice (sharing the rum and the type of background sweetness), and Indaco by L’Erbolario (with a much higher predominance of patchouli). It has moderate projection and a longevity of about 9-10 hours on my skin. It’s definitely a perfume I’ve loved and would use with great pleasure. Despite being particular and having great personality, I won’t include it in my collection due to having options in its line, mainly because of its price. Cacao Porcelana has a name that fits perfectly. It’s a dry cocoa, subtly sweet with bitter, smoky, boozy, and floral touches. It’s not a typical gourmand; it’s extremely sensual and addictive. Dark, mysterious, and elegant… It makes me think it could be the scent of Rhys, one of the main characters in ACOTAR, the literary crush of all the readers, lol. Very well-combined notes. I’m a woman and I’d wear it easily, but if I smell it on a man, I get the urge to bite him… Totally unisex. I’m in love.

  • Cacao Porcelana has a totally representative name. It’s a dry cocoa, subtly sweet with bitter, smoky, boozy, and floral touches. It’s not the typical gourmand scent; it’s extremely sensual and addictive for me. Dark, mysterious, elegant… The moment I smell it, I think it could perfectly be the scent of Rhys, one of the protagonists of the ACOTAR saga, and the literary crush of all the readers, lol. A very well-combined set of notes, definitely. I’m a woman and I’d wear it easily, but if I smell this on a man, I get the urge to bite him… It’s totally unisex. I’m in love.

  • Warning: if you’re looking for sweet chocolate, this isn’t for you. I agree with the previous reviews: the opening is 100% natural cocoa, powdery, dry, without excessive bitterness or sweetness, hyper-realistic, and unique. As it dries down, the white floral appears, slightly powdery on my skin, blending in the base with smoky tonka bean notes. Solid evolution: it starts dry and powdery and ends sweet and creamy. 100% unisex, elegant, and sensual. I find it very original; it doesn’t smell like anything I’ve tried before. My only gripe is that I’m not sure if it’s olfactory fatigue or if on my skin it becomes a personal enjoyment scent starting from the 2nd or 3rd hour (rare, since I’ve read good reviews about its performance). Either way, I’m not sure if it’s worth spending this price if I barely notice it after a couple of hours… What a pity, because I really enjoy the smell. I’ll keep testing it.

  • Cacao Porcelana is my favorite from the brand so far. It opens with a dusty, sweet, and super-realistic cocoa note, grounded by an earthy base that eventually mutates into something more floral, even adding a bit of dirtiness to the scent. The result is quasi-gourmand, full of nuances and layers where cocoa remains the center, surrounded by warm florals and a base that adds sweetness. I agree with the comparison to TMOV’s Rococo and Nest’s Cocoa Woods, but here the overall quality is better. I see it as unisex, though slightly more feminine due to the floral charge, ideal for temperate and cold climates. It’s versatile, but I think it shines most on dates or special occasions. I like it, but I’m not sure if I’ll buy it given the high price. However, it’s a must-try if you’re looking for a more natural and less commercial cocoa experience than what perfumery usually offers. Note: 8/10 Tested from the Discovery Set.
