  Costarela comes out like a warm breeze, slightly spicy with a dash of citrus. Then it turns into an aromatic sand mist with amber where we immerse ourselves, but everything is very volatile. It’s a curious dry-down; while many say it fails here, I find it a pleasant journey. It reminds me of lying on the beach on fine sand, half-asleep. It’s not extraordinary, but it’s a pleasant and unobtrusive fragrance. It’s the third Shyamala Maisondieu creation I’ve tried (creations for 27-87) and they all seem correct but nothing special. Different aromas that don’t quite convince me.

  Costarela starts with a rich opening, warm citrus notes from the amber and a very present ambroxan. It would be a great fragrance, but it’s a pity its trail and projection are practically non-existent. The worst part is the longevity: after an hour, the scent disappears completely.

  It doesn’t smell like sand, but it recreates that rough texture of dry sand sticking to the skin. Paired with a citrus note, it dangerously reminds me of Vim kitchen cleaner. It has an interesting marine nuance with a good initial sillage that fades quickly; if I apply too much, it lasts about 5 hours. Curiously little, I’m not sure if it’s due to its nature or my skin. More asexual than unisex. Ideal for transitional days and casual occasions. It left me thrown off: I don’t dislike it, but associating it so strongly with a cleaning product prevents me from seeing it as a wearable perfume. Pleasant: 5/10 Interesting: 5/10 Versatile: 7/10 Original: 8/10
