Lumiere Blanche by Grès

Exquisite perfume. I’m thrilled with my blind buy and already purchased another bottle just in case. I put it on and it makes me feel wonderful. It has moderate longevity and sillage. It’s refined, discreet, and feels very original compared to the trendy gourmands.

Finally found a tester here. I was torn between a powdery, fresh white floral like Kenzo Amour Florale, or a sweet, creamy, perhaps indolic scent in the old style. It leans more toward the latter. The opening is sweet jasmine in a classic, creamy, round base. Then it shifts to a medium-sweet freshness, not typical for white florals. It reminded me a lot of Natura’s Intuition from 1998. Great surprise! The dry-down is very similar, as if there’s a touch of green petigrain among the creamy flowers. Sometimes it’s more powdery, sometimes fresher and greener. Hard to describe; you never know what to expect. Maybe for our times it feels a bit formal, but the green base keeps it more everyday. I won’t buy it since I already have the Intuition, but I’m glad I tested it on blotter. I’ll try it on skin, and if it changes significantly, I’ll add more details.

It seems super exquisite! You can smell the neroli and orange blossom at first, then on my skin it turns directly into musk. Longevity is about two or three hours, not much sillage, but I love it even if I have to reapply. It smells floral but different from many others. Cost-performance ratio: worth having.

It’s a very sober scent, a safe bet for looking elegant without drawing too much attention. More citrus than white floral on my skin. I stop smelling it after a few hours, but when people walk into my office, they always compliment it, even hours after I’ve stopped smelling it (which annoys me a bit and I don’t think I’ll repurchase). People have compared it to a Dolce & Gabbana fragrance.

Gres is a specialist in making horrible perfumes wrapped in beautiful bottles. I’ve been bitten by this brand again because the good price is a bait. The bottle is elegant and coquettish, and the name Lumiere Blanche doesn’t hint at the terrifying fragrance inside. It gives me a flash of a woman from the fifties in a fur coat. It’s outdated and smells stale, except for the slight herbal aroma at the start. The same thing happened with other perfumes of theirs like Cabotine or Cabochard. On top of that, it lasts a long time and has good sillage. Of course, I won’t repurchase.

White flowers and orange blossom notes. Excellent longevity for under 10 euros. The Gres house has not disappointed me.

Beautiful fragrance, you can detect creamy, sweet orange blossom alongside neroli; it seems to have amber, though I’m not sure if that sweetness comes from the peach. It’s a unique scent on the market for white flower lovers—very refined, feminine, and romantic, versatile for any age, and seems much more expensive than it is. My only critique is that it doesn’t last long; I have dry skin due to the climate, and it seems to perform better in the heat. I tested it in winter, and the neroli and peach were more noticeable, but applying heat made the orange blossom explode. Edit: I tried it in summer, and the humidity changes it completely. It becomes a vintage, slightly powdery scent with a prominent musk where the peach dominates; orange blossom and neroli linger in the background. It no longer feels as versatile; it suits a middle-aged woman better.
