Jean Kerleo

Jean Kerléo is a French perfumer. He was born on February 24, 1932, in Brittany, France. At the age of 22, he began his career as a perfumer for Helena Rubenstein in the city of New York. In 1965, Kerléo was awarded the Prix des Parfumeurs de France. Later, he served as president of the Société des Parfumeurs Français from 1976 to 1979. In 2001, he received the Prix François Coty. He is known for his work as a perfumer for the house Jean Patou, where he worked from 1967 until 1998. He created perfumes for the brand, including 1000 and Sublime. He also oversaw the recreation of Patou’s iconic fragrances from the early decades, such as Chaldée and Normandie, in 1984, using existing formulas and available ingredients. In 1999, Kerléo founded Osmothèque, an archive of aromas in Versailles, France. In 2008, he handed over the position of president and director of Osmothèque to Patricia de Nicolaï.
