International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF) is a global corporation that produces flavors, fragrances, and cosmetic actives. The company was formed in 1958 through the merger of Polak & Schwarz (P&S) and van Ameringen-Haebler, two companies that respectively excelled in flavors and fragrances.
IFF has its headquarters in New York City and has facilities in 44 countries. The company is a member of the S&P 500 index.
In 1968, IFF established the Monell Chemical Senses Center together with the Monell Foundation, dedicated to research on taste and smell. IFF is also known for being a pioneer in Living Flower technology, which changed the way perfumes are created, and for its R&D center in Union Beach, NJ, which includes a 5,000-square-foot greenhouse and a botanical garden that can maintain tropical and subtropical temperature zones for more than 1,300 varieties of exotic plants.
The company acquired Laboratoire Monique Rémy in 2000, Bush Boake Allen in 2000, Aromor Flavors and Fragrances in 2014, Ottens Flavors in 2015, David Michael & Company in 2016, and Lucas Meyer Cosmetics in 2015.
IFF is a company with a market capitalization of $10.8 billion and a global presence that generated more than 75 percent of its 2016 sales outside the United States and 51 percent in emerging markets.
