Perfumer
Gerald Ghislain
Gérald Ghislain is a well-known perfumer, known for his innovative and unconventional approach to fragrances. Born and raised in the south of France and Morocco, Ghislain’s passion for sensory pleasures led him to pursue a career in the gourmet industry, training as a restaurateur and hotelier. However, it was his love of fragrances that ultimately drew him into the world of perfumery.
His quest for his passion led him to enroll in postgraduate studies at the prestigious ISIPCA in Versailles, where he refined his craft and developed his unique style. In the year 2000, he founded Histoires de Parfums, a line of fragrances that quickly gained worldwide recognition for its unconventional and daring compositions.
As the creative force behind Histoires de Parfums, Ghislain has declared himself free from the expectations and restrictions of commercial perfumery, allowing his imagination to fly freely and creating fragrances that range from soft and charming to wild and animalic, from gourmand to boldly sexy. His peripatetic childhood has influenced his work, and notes such as cardamom, cumin, clove, and cinnamon often appear in unexpected ways, giving his fragrances a unique vitality and a distinctive character.
Ghislain’s talent and dedication to his craft have earned him a reputation as one of today’s most innovative and exciting perfumers. His fragrances continue to surprise and delight, and his refusal to be guided by conventions ensures that we can never predict what he will create next. For Gérald Ghislain, the pleasures of the gourmet and the delights of fragrances are closely intertwined, and his work reflects this intersection of passions.
