  1. Finally on Fragrantica, I took years to write this because there was no profile for it. It pays homage to Sheikh Zayed, the first president of the UAE, a beautiful country where luxury is its hallmark. The bottle is handsome, one of the few with nice detailing on the plaque, and that purple contrasts well with the cap and gold plates. Brands like Xerjoff pay homage to these countries, and Boadicea is no exception. Zayed 2018 smells like semi-stinky oud with a floral charge (rose-violet) and saffron marking a light amber base with sandalwood and moss. When you smell it, you’d swear there’s oud, even though there isn’t; an oud accord forms from the dirty, earthy notes of patchouli and vetiver. It’s linear without much development, good performance without being heavy. Unisex with a masculine lean. As it dries, the intensity drops and it becomes floral (saffron dominant), keeping that unisex/masculine tone. It gives a lot for its reasonable price. Dasman is more expensive and Carbon Sapphire, well, let’s not even talk about that. If you’re looking for a floral with ‘oud’ that isn’t difficult and won’t break the bank, Zayed 2018 is very good and high quality. The community has responded well. If you’ve heard of the others mentioned, it’s redundant unless you’re a rose fan. A pleasant surprise. 9/10 ✨
