Descripción

Vulcan Sable by French Avenue is an aromatic fragrance from the aromatic family, designed for men and women. This creation, launched in 2025, is presented as a novelty in the brand's catalog. In its opening, the top notes unfold a vibrant combination of whisky, orange, coriander, and mandarin. The heart of the composition reveals warm and woody elegance thanks to tonka bean, cashmere, styrax, and anise. To finish, the base notes offer an enveloping and persistent sequence with vanilla, benzoin, and patchouli.

  • The scent of Vulcan Sable is basically what I imagine when opening a bottle of chocolate liquor and smelling the first pour hitting the glass. 🍫🥃 At first, it has a lighter touch, as if the alcohol is briefly noticeable, but it quickly darkens and becomes more chocolatey, like a fresh piece of pure chocolate. That transition from boozy to sweet is executed very well. As for longevity, it lasts quite a bit thanks to its intensity, which isn’t cloying but leaves a constant, very comforting presence. If you’re into dark chocolate with an adult edge, this could be a top pick.

  • The opening is extremely boozy. Once it dries down, it smells good with a hint of vanilla, but I didn’t enjoy it. To get to that scent, you have to spend an hour smelling like whiskey.

The opening is dominated by exquisite liquor; as it dries down, it becomes more generic and smells like a thousand chocolate-vanilla perfumes we already know. Perfect for winter days or nights. But do I like it? Definitely YES.

This perfume has become one of my favorites, an exquisite aroma where the whiskey and citrus really shine. As it dries down, it gives me a sweet, earthy, powdery sensation. On my skin, it’s not overpowering but has lasted over 15 hours, with projection that never fades throughout that time—not loud, but always noticeable. Very good, I give it an 8.5/10. I love the Vulcan line.

Value for money: 9.5/10. An absolute steal for that blend at such a low price point (~30€). Longevity: 10/10. Beastly performance; it survives showers and lasts all day on clothes. Versatility: 4/10. Strictly for cold nights. In heat, it can smell rancid or vomity. Originality: 8/10, though many detect it as a mix of known DNA (vanilla-boozy-spices). Overall appreciation: 7.5/10. Gets lots of compliments, but the opening might repel sensitive noses. 👍 The best: its velvet, boozy, chocolatey drydown projects luxury for a fraction of niche prices. 👍 The worst: the synthetic whiskey opening is so strong some report nausea before it settles. If you survive the first 20 minutes of “medicinal alcohol and rubber,” you get one of the best winter scents. Not a blind buy due to its opening.
