I started breaking down my beloved Daniel Josier collection chronologically thanks to the discovery set. The concept, based on perfumery history, is fascinating. This Volume I pays homage to Sumerian civilization, the cradle of the first ointments and oils, recreating notes from that era. The opening is spicy, warm, and peppery with hints of alcohol. It soon evolves into something very different from what I expected and truly pleasant. The heart keeps the pepper kick, but the patchouli and cedar give it a mentholated/balsamic touch on my skin. The star is the sandalwood: light, spicy, creamy, and smoky, extremely well-balanced. You can tell they use quality ingredients. Although I didn’t expect it, it’s one of my candidates to buy the bottle. The trail is moderate and lasts over 10 hours. It’s unisex. Scent 8/10, Longevity 10/10, Sillage 7/10, Value 7/10, Packaging 8/10. Would I buy it again? Haven’t done that yet.
