A risky purchase that’s totally worth it: a well-crafted, super-refined perfume with an authentic 80s vintage vibe, nothing dusty. It opens with rhubarb and chocolate, fresh in the heart notes; as it dries down, plum, orchid, amber, and musk take over, creating a sweet, creamy, intense, nocturnal, and winter scent. I own Lilabelle and Lilabelle Truly Adorable, and this is a whole different twist—all are vintage but with a distinct character compared to the rose-and-lemon-pie ones. It’s a dark, wearable fragrance for a woman, similar to Estée Lauder’s Estée but less cloying than some old Ted Lapidus scents, so it could even work for a man; the others are more playful, youthful, floral, and feminine. This is what a woman with class wears, a true femme fatale. It’s heavy but not overwhelming, sweet but not sickening, and not a caramelized gourmand like L’Vie. Excellent buy, though I don’t see it for young girls; I wish the chocolate note lasted longer. Perfect for my mom, she’s going to love it.
