Fairly green vetiver with soft, spice-free citrus. At first, the herbs and herbal vetiver notes dominate. As it develops, the woody notes take center stage. Very nice for those who want to avoid sharp citrus (like Guerlain’s) or heavy spices (like Tom Ford’s Grey Vetiver) and prefer green scents. Lasts over 12 hours, though it eventually clings to the skin. Sillage is moderate to heavy if overapplied. A Puig icon born in 1978, a year of dense fragrances, very well known here but apparently discontinued. If you get it, I highly recommend it. Perfect for intermediate seasons and daily wear.

This is Prieth’s favorite fragrance; I won’t repeat what he already said, just read his review. All I’ll say is that I love it and I’m sad to see it discontinued. A classic among classics.

  • One of the tenderest vetivers I’ve ever tried, a truly incredible perfume. It makes me feel fresh and ready for the day. It’s one of my top three daily wear scents. Discontinued (I’ll never understand why), and I stumbled upon it by chance in my neighborhood after searching high and low, haha. It came with its deodorant, which is just as good as the bottle itself. I use it drop by drop to make it last; I don’t want to run out.

  • Clean, soapy vetiver. Easy to wear without any fuss. No spices or baroque fluff. Cheap and safe buy.

  • A vetiver that brings me very good memories: clean, soapy, an elegant simple perfume in its structure but not for that reason less beautiful. It doesn’t need fancy ingredients to be exquisite. In its DNA lies a tender character, but it’s a very masculine fragrance. Too bad it was discontinued, I’d buy it again with my eyes closed.

  • Another proof that good things don’t have to be expensive… a genuine, fresh, and crisp vetiver, with that vintage touch that makes it more interesting. I walked into a perfume shop in my neighborhood already an adult… uff, it was right there at eye level, I couldn’t believe it. I looked around, asking myself: does this people know what they have here?? I quickly told the salesperson, pretending like I wasn’t interested, haha. It was a box with massage oil and cologne. She said: it costs 9.50 euros. I said: do you have more? Yes, I have three left. I took them all. I think it was one of the happiest days of my life, with how little it takes to satisfy a man’s heart, haha.

One of the fragrances with the most eighties memories, since my older uncles and cousins used it when I was little. That pure, clean, elegant vetiver smell, plus the fact that it wasn’t an expensive cologne, is clear proof that you can make a great fragrance at a good price. When I grew up, I bought it too, and I think it was my first men’s cologne. Too bad it’s discontinued, though there are others with a predominance of vetiver and similar notes, Puig’s Vetiver was my favorite.

  • I love vintage scents for the exquisite quality we find in most of them. Nothing is more memorable than a smell. A scent can be unexpected, fleeting, or long-lasting, yet evoke a summer in our childhood at a mountain lake with all your loved ones smiling in a black-and-white photo. Another, a beach illuminated by the moon. Sometimes having a few years under your belt is an advantage to understand perfumes like this. It’s pure beauty that makes you think of a true old-school gentleman, always educated and few words, but sure, charismatic, and elegant. Born when the fragrance world was something else, it’s a privilege to be able to taste something like this again in 2019. Anyone with extensive olfactory experience knows what I mean: vetiver isn’t an easy or pleasant note for everyone, but here it reaches incredible levels of goodness. The fragrance is spicy, dark woody, grounded, and yet very pleasant, with strong, earthy, dry spicy notes, almost powdery, followed by a green moss resin and vetiver that intoxicate you voluptuously, with satisfactory longevity and good presence, perfectly usable today today. Spraying it is like returning to those places and times where everything was perfect.

  • The perfume world used to be different, with fewer options and basic solutions. In Spain, Puig stood out among the few designer brands. I remember using their fragrances: Agua Brava, Agua Lavanda, Brummel, and above all, Vetiver. It allowed me to discover this ingredient, which later gave us gems like Guerlain’s Vetiver Frozen, now unobtainable. In my opinion, it should be brought back, perhaps with slight tweaks to modernize it and adjust it to current tastes.

  • Years ago, the perfume world wasn’t like it is now. There was little to choose from, and they were very basic solutions. Among the designer brands available in Spain at the time, Puig stood out above the few others. I remember being a lucky user of their fragrances, including Agua Brava, Agua Lavanda, Brummel, and above all, Vetiver. Puig’s Vetiver allowed me to discover this particular ingredient found in many colognes that has enabled the creation of true jewels, like Guerlain’s Vetiver in its Frozen version, now discontinued and unobtainable. In my opinion, this fragrance could be produced again and brought back to the market, even with slight tweaks to modernize it and adjust it to current tastes.

  • A classic fragrance I hadn’t tried in a long time. The longevity and evolution caught me off guard; perfumes like this outshine many of today’s offerings. The next day, it comes and goes clinging to the skin, incredible. It starts ‘abrummel-like’ and soon a very cool vetiver note emerges as the star. At some point, the herbal and green vibe reminded me of VCA’s Tsar. Recommended for vetiver lovers.

  • A classic fragrance I hadn’t tried in a long time. It caught me off guard with its longevity and evolution. This type of fragrance makes many modern perfumes look shy. The next day, it comes and goes clinging to the skin, incredible. It starts ‘overwhelming’ and soon a great vetiver emerges, the star. At some point, more herbal and green, it reminded me of Tsar by VCA. Recommended for vetiver lovers.

Puig Vetiver, eau de toilette for men, 100 ml bottle (Antonio Puig, made in Spain). My tester batch is from 2019. The bottle is very simple (not the original vintage one). The juice is an intense green, not dark. Fresh opening that becomes linear towards the vetiver; it reminds me of oakmoss, which isn’t listed in the notes. Definitely a green fragrance, nothing complex, no citruses or bergamot, so common. It dries down and sits close to the skin quickly (the formula must be dated). Low projection for just a few minutes. Longevity doesn’t reach 5 hours on my skin. It’s a seventies-style vetiver vibe I wanted in my collection. Even with diminished performance, it’s just a detail. This Puig fragrance is part of the Spanish house’s history. For sunny climates and informal occasions, accessible price—I got it as a tester. Perfect for discovering, comparing, and collecting vetiver-noted perfumes. Cheers.

  • I just found out that the ad for this fragrance is what sparked controversy due to its subliminal message. The ad is great, mysterious—I recommend checking it out on YouTube. It’s another Spanish fragrance that evokes more nostalgia than I expected. You’ve probably heard of it more than once if you’re of a certain age. If Agua Brava was the battle companion, Puig’s Vetiver was for special or formal occasions. The opening reminded me of a YouTuber saying Vetiver is ‘medicinal.’ When it settles, the nuances emerge; all the notes working together create magic, it’s a ‘whole.’ I have a miniature, don’t know when. If you like green scents, you have to try it. Does anyone know if it’s inspired by Guerlain’s Vetiver? That’s the one I want to try.

  • Too bad it’s discontinued; it brought me so many compliments and left a mark. I still have a bottle with a few drops left so I don’t forget its exquisite scent. I haven’t found a replacement among what I’ve tried. It was soft but left a trail and turned heads; people asked about it several times. Fresh with a slightly sweet touch, suitable for any occasion, leaning towards formal or semi-formal.

  • One of the few I bought and repurchased because until I was 20, I only smelled what people gave me. I loved its deep scent without it being cloying. I wore it between 25 and 30. Compliments never really mattered to me, so what counted was that I liked it. My skin is tricky, but it lasted 4-6 hours without issues.
