Valley of the Kings starts very bright, with citrus, floral, and patchouli notes framing the composition. I’m really sad that the rose appears in a darker facet than usual, but gradually I notice how the blend turns amber and attar-like, leaving a result that doesn’t quite convince me, as if the perfume ages twenty years in just a few minutes. Honestly, it didn’t work for me. With so many other original and inspired options available, I’m moving on from this one by Alexandria. Rating: 4/10.

The Valley of the Kings starts super bright, citrusy, and floral, with a patchouli that closes out the piece. I’m a bit shocked by that rose on a darker side than usual, but gradually the blend amberifies and talcum-powders until it gives a result that doesn’t sit well with me, as if the perfume ages twenty years in just a few minutes. Honestly, I didn’t like it. There are many other original options out there, so I’m passing on this one. Rating: 4/10

The opening is an explosion of patchouli with citrus, where you can detect orange peel and lemon zest; gradually, a delicately sweetened red rose emerges, softened by blackcurrant juice. In the heart, the patchouli and rose remain, creating a very unisex yet elegant fragrance. The sandalwood joins as the canvas where this masterpiece is painted. Towards the dry down, it transforms into sensuality and sophistication thanks to the slightly sweetened musk balanced by vanilla, which only adds equilibrium to keep it from being dry. Basically, that’s what the Valley of the Kings gives me. It’s definitely a perfume you can use for special occasions like weddings and formal events, but for casual wear, I feel it’s wasted.

The first time I smelled Valley of the Kings, the only word that came to mind was: OPULENCE. Alexandria Fragrances nailed capturing that essence. What a luxury to perfume the skin with this elixir. At first, the potency was overwhelming and all the notes exploded at once, confusing my senses a bit until, gradually, each ingredient found its place. First, the best patchouli I’ve ever tried: earthy, sweet, with that initial sweaty nuance due to its strength, but then it reveals its gentle and bold side. Next comes a seductive, glamorous, and characterful rose—nothing delicate, but a beautiful flower with thorns. Immediately after, the perfect sandalwood appears, clean and impeccable, alongside a soft yet distinct vanilla. To close, the currants add a precious acidity that balances everything, wrapped in an elegant musk. It’s unisex, and I’d love to try it on a man, though on my skin its charm is out of this world. Alexandria Fragrances is earning a spot among my favorites for that masterful yet slightly erratic, but always beautiful, evolution. A 10/10, it’s here to stay in my collection.
