Descripción

Hawaii Volcano by Alexandria Fragrances is a citrus fragrance for men and women. Launched in 2017, this olfactory composition was created by perfumer Hany Hafez. Its opening unfolds a fresh effervescence with lime, coconut, Sicilian bergamot, and Sicilian mandarin. The heart reveals an exotic and sensual floral accord thanks to ylang-ylang, Indian jasmine, and hibiscus. Finally, the base settles on musk and woody notes that add depth and longevity.

  • The first thing that stands out upon spraying is the contrast between the creamy coconut and the sharp, natural citrus aromas; a bold mix of Mediterranean notes with a tropical base that transports you to a VIP beach in the Caribbean. Decent longevity and notable projection, especially in the first two hours; it’s a vortex of sweet, salty, citrus, and fresh sensations, ideal for spring-summer afternoons, with bermudas and t-shirts, sipping a piña colada or something similar. An unusual scent discovered thanks to Rafasant.

  • It’s an inspiration for Virgin Island Water. Does it resemble it? It has the vibe. In short, it’s like taking a mojito inside a coconut. The lime opening is achieved, fresh coconut is noticeable (not the sunscreen kind); then rum and cane sugar appear. The opening is the best part. At some point, I sense jasmine, overshadowed by the coconut. In the heart phase, the lime disappears and the sugar on my skin becomes more pronounced; it becomes an annoying moment, like the taste of putting a spoonful of sugar in your mouth. In the dry down, very soft wood notes remain, little coconut, and more sugar. It’s linear, but yes, enough projection for the first two hours and easily 12 hours of longevity. With VIW, I get a better, more balanced, and rounded scent, but it just doesn’t work on my skin.

  • The opening is similar to VIW, but suddenly the coconut disappears, leaving a very ethereal and linear sea lime scent (if you’ve heard of Zara’s Vibrant Leather, you’ll get it; they don’t smell the same, but it’s something ethereal and fresh, nothing more). It evokes standing in front of a pool on the beach at night, smelling the water and the ocean breeze. Very fresh.

Super fresh fragrance inspired by CVIW. It’s like a shot of lemonade inside a coconut shell. Although it’s more linear and direct, it’s good. It reminds me of a newlywed couple on a private island vacation: sunglasses, the sea in between, some flirty drinks, and mutual provocations until sunset; surely there will be action. It’s for hot climates, but I also see it as a nighttime, party vibe.

It’s a copy of Virgin Island Water, but the mint doesn’t blend well and smells like wet cardboard. I prefer higher-quality inspirations like Malibu Party in the Beach; the coconut there is much more potent and the overall quality feels absolute.
