I picked it up from Alexandra’s website for $70 for 60 ml. I arrived with high hopes, but the first sniff was a standard grapefruit, nothing spectacular. The woods and ambroxan were barely noticeable. I let it mature for two months and tested it alongside Tygar. They don’t resemble each other much; Tygar is sweeter, and in the dry-down it smells flat and standard. Not worth it for the price.
I previously reviewed Turathi Blue and now with Black Panther I still think both are worthy copies of Tygar, something users confirm. In a world where most people just want to smell good and don’t seek exact notes, this DNA turns out very rich. Alexandria has just enough to make its clientele happy with the price-to-quality ratio. Grapefruit, dark woods, and ambroxan—nothing more to say. It’s the most balanced and least strident of the three, with good performance. I like it, recommend trying it. To be half the price between Afnan and Bvlgari, the decision is to smell them side by side and see which you like more. Rating: 9/10
I’ve already tried Turathi Blue and now Black Panther; both are worthy tributes to Tygar, something users back up with their notes. In a world where nobody cares as much about note precision as they do about smelling good, this DNA is a luxury. It convinces me: Alexandria’s price-to-quality ratio leaves almost all its clientele satisfied. Grapefruit, dark woods, and ambroxan—nothing more to say about its chords. This Alexandria is the most balanced and least strident of the three I mentioned, with very solid overall performance. I like it, recommend trying it. And for those deciding between Afnan and Bvlgari, since it’s half the price, the key is to smell them side by side and see which fits your experience better. Rating: 9/10
