Descripción

Thailand Oud in Cairo by Paris Corner is a spicy oriental fragrance for men and women. Launched in 2021, this composition features an olfactory pyramid that opens with top notes of leather, cinnamon, and cardamomo; unfolds with a heart of myrrh, frankincense, tobacco, and Atlas cedar; and settles on a base of Thai oud, Cambodian oud, cyperus (nagarmota), and patchouli.

  • If you like leather with animal touches, this Thailand Oud in Cairo won’t disappoint. It’s a rough leather accompanied by two types of oud, one of which is Cambodian, which makes you wonder where they put it. But it’s not intimidating or offensive; the oud is quite animalistic, but it doesn’t smell like a stable. It’s like a rough version of Tuscan Leather, but it has an addictive edge thanks to that animal side. It’s not sexy; it’s openly sexual, and while you won’t get compliments, people will ask for your license plate when they smell it. It lasts over 8 hours on skin, and fortunately, the projection is moderate, so you enjoy it without overwhelming anyone. It’s very masculine and perfect for cool weather. Different, challenging, and with a very fair price.

  • I’m torn. I don’t quite like it, even though I’m a fan of oud in its most radical versions. The name hooked me from the start; it sounds very evocative. Since I already owned several versions of Ministry of Oud by Paris Corner, I thought this Thailand Oud in Cairo would be just as good (like Oud Indonesian, Strictly Oud, or Oud Satin). But I didn’t like it at all; it doesn’t smell good, it’s unbalanced, and it’s not interesting. It smells too spicy, maybe smoky, and I can’t detect the oud or the two types it claims to have. Mostly, I smell a lot of cinnamon, which I can’t identify well—it could be incense or leather—and a smoky note that turns me off. Although it sounds weird, sometimes it smells like Burgos blood sausage. I don’t recommend buying it blindly; you won’t get compliments. It’s for your personal enjoyment and the horror of others.

  • It’s quite similar to Luxor, but it lacks that animal (fecal) opening. It’s a flat fragrance with little evolution and doesn’t perform as well as the original, but for the price, it’s a decent option.

  • Today’s formula isn’t new; other brands have already tried it. The opening is intense: the acidity of the leather mixes with the animal side of the oud to create a strong scent reminiscent of wet dog and vomit. What stands out most is the stable-like smell, horse sweat, mixed with something boozy, plum brandy, hunting, and game. When it dries down, it becomes woody, like fresh varnish or polished parquet, with hints of licorice. In short, it’s scary at first and not for a date, but it smells good once it settles. It reminds me more of Tom Ford Oud Wood Intense than Tuscan Leather, though without that pheasant note.
