This perfume, along with its two siblings, has a nice initial blast, but once it dries down, it smells old.
The opening is fresh and synthetic, but after two hours it’s pure gardenia, similar to Estée Lauder’s Private Collection Tuberose Gardenia (though that one is more natural, for sure), but at a much lower price. It’s okay, but it gets a bit heavy. I think if it’s not for a cold, dry day, it might be hard to wear because the longevity is no joke. If you’re a huge gardenia fan and your plant isn’t blooming, you can even spray it in the room—it smells almost identical.

Secret Gardenia is my favorite but I’d renew all three every spring and summer. My mom looks stunning in the Rose version; I sometimes steal a little from her. I absolutely love its opening: a wet juicy garden almost by the sea romantic and sensual with that floral trio of gardenia jasmine and freesia. With its touch of tender grass and citrus it’s super pleasant. The heart is lovely youthful and ethereal. It’s one of the simplest and most effective florals I’ve tried. Even though the overall scent is synthetic it delivers if you’re looking for something decisive for spring or heat evoking an orderly minimalist garden with lots of lawn. Honestly of the three it’s the one that lasts the least and I barely notice it but at 5 euros for 50 ml I don’t mind reapplying. I just always apply it as a mist from a distance because it stings a bit on the neck.
