Rose de Molinard is a good perfume with great longevity and sillage, but if you’re not a rose lover, prepare for an olfactory invasion from start to finish. It’s not a fresh, youthful rose, but a mature, red one that exudes an intoxicating scent without asking permission. I bought it expecting something softer and more contained, like The Merchant of Venice’s Rosa Moceniga (magnificent!), but instead found something much more intense, with some truly off-putting notes in the opening. Plus, it has a slightly masculine edge that doesn’t quite convince me, though I’ll admit it’s a great rose perfume.
This perfume is a single, abandoned, slightly sad rose. When I bought it, I thought I’d find a treasure, and that’s what I smelled: a lab-made rose, nothing more. Yes, you’ll smell like a rose, but very softly and nothing else. The good news is you can use it to accent that rose note in other perfumes, mixing it as a nuance or accord.
Just arrived today, and despite my doubts, it smells amazing. At first, it’s all rose, but after 10 minutes, it transforms: the rose recedes while the musk and clove take over, everything fresh. I love mixing perfumes, and this gives a masculine twist to scents like Aramis Leather or Le Fumme by Miller Harris, which are earthy and balsamic. Happy with my blind buy. Recommended for all ages and climates, with excellent longevity and projection.
