They say it first launched in France in the early 30s, then hit the US in the 40s, before Revlon reformulated it in the 60s under the same name. At first, the lime and aldehydes hit hard, but then the herbal and spicy notes bloom. What really dominates is the moss and musk; the neroli and mimosa blend beautifully in the drydown without getting lost. The powder and heliotrope notes add a nice sweetness—nothing acidic or metallic. It doesn’t sound as much like an oriental as people claim, but rather a green floral chypre with spices, reminiscent of Nuit de Longchamp or Ma Griffe. This is likely the extract version, maybe the 60s formulation, in a light green hue rather than dark. It’s exquisite, especially once it settles on the skin.
