They say it’s leather with citrus, green, and animalic touches. A reviewer named Goné Valo (hello, brother!) described it as squeezing bergamot and lime over a brown leather jacket; those acidic tones make it vibrate, mixed with castoreum, musk, and herbs. Others describe it as a die-hard smoker who got soaked in jasmine after kissing his partner. BEWARE! Don’t confuse it with the 1987 Lapidus Pour Homme, which is more honeyed, with tobacco, sweet, yet still retains wood, thyme, and that dirty, satin-like musk. Back to this one: Ted Lapidus Pour Homme is from the era of Polo Green and the classic Azzaro, so it smells like complex 70s recordings, when Rod Stewart was 32 and released ‘Do Ya Think I’m Sexy?’ and Blondie was playing ‘Heart of Glass’ (now people think Miley did it, but that was a disastrous remake). So, rock and different fashion. It’s a reminder of perfumery different from today, based on vintage notes and the most purely masculine stuff in history, with that clear gender divide (I’m Gen Z and admit fashion should define it well; if you disagree, sorry). This hyper-masculine perfumery with flared trousers uses chypre and fougere herbs, citrus, mosses, leather, and animal notes in obscene quantities. Worth noting it wasn’t made for long, so they didn’t dishonor it with reformulations, unlike Paco Rabanne Pour Homme, where they stupidly added and removed notes. I haven’t heard the vintage, but even if it has the same aura, it differs in tones. Vintage bottles are still around; if you get a chance and like it, buy it. If you can only buy blind and the notes call to you, go ahead too. Enjoy it! A gem of the 70s.
I’m not entirely sure, but it smells strong, sweet, and a bit fussy—kind of like musk. If you’re looking for something similar, there’s an Avon fragrance called Oslo that’s almost identical.
