About Polyglot
Polyglot by Elixir Attar: A Chypre That Speaks in Many Accents
Polyglot is a unisex chypre fragrance from Elixir Attar, crafted by perfumer Ahmed Mostafa. It opens a complex conversation between fruit, spice, florals, and darker materials.
The name suits the composition: sweet, woody, animalic, resinous, and powdery facets overlap, creating a scent that never stays on one note for long.
The top notes burst with blackcurrant, raspberry, bergamot, violet, pepper, and anise. The berry accord is vivid and slightly tart, while pepper and anise give the opening a surprising twist.
The heart blends ylang-ylang, heliotrope, and jasmine, lending a creamy, powdery texture that smooths the edges of the bright entry. This is no conventional floral heart; it feels abstract, almost retro.
In the base, Vietnamese oud, incense, tonka bean, ambergris, castoreum, birch tar, deer musk, labdanum, opoponax, and oakmoss form a dense, smoky, balsamic foundation. The animalic and resinous notes give the perfume a vintage-leaning depth.
The accords are amber, sweet, woody, musky, powdery, fresh spicy, leather, fruity, animalic, and floral. With so many voices, Polyglot never unfolds all at once; it reveals itself gradually on the skin.
This is a fragrance for slow wearing. Each layer asks for attention, from the juicy top to the leathery, mossy drydown.
It manages to feel classic and contemporary at once, thanks to the contrast between bright red fruits and shadowy woods.
Anyone who enjoys rich chypres, natural materials, and complex unisex fragrances will appreciate Polyglot. It’s especially suited to those who are comfortable with animalic and resinous nuances.
Polyglot is a confident, sophisticated creation. It speaks many olfactory languages but remains unmistakably personal—a remarkable addition to the Elixir Attar collection.
