Villoresi fragrances have never let me down, but this one is nothing special. Maybe it’s just not my style. It smells quite green and very spicy; the pepper dominates at first—I’ve never smelled anything so peppery. Then it fades, leaving a citrusy and green touch that doesn’t stand out. There’s a hint of mint. Longevity and projection are average, leaning low, but that’s normal for this type of perfume.
Piper Nigrum starts with a strong dose of pepper mixed with mint and spices; the opening is nice but short-lived. Then a balsamic and spicy accord settles in, with that pepper-like heat that becomes linear and boring by the end. Medium-high quality, moderate longevity, and soft projection for a Villoresi fragrance that, in the end, leaves no impression. Rating: 3
Lasts a decent amount of time. At first, it smells vegetal, then turns very spicy, and finally becomes more balsamic. I think the pyramid explains it well. Honestly, so much pepper just doesn’t work for me.
Caught me off guard. Starts with a spicy mentholated note that sounds masculine, but soon settles into anise, nutmeg, and clove, with pepper taking the lead. The dry down is super cozy, a unique balsamic balance between myrrh and incense. Smells like autumn, even if it’s fresh. The downside is the longevity: about half an hour of decent projection before it fades to skin scent. I like it, but it doesn’t convince me to buy.
