  I dove headfirst into exploring Ouds after trying Tom Ford Oud Wood, and Al Faransi Maluku is, so far, the most wearable from their line. It’s more Western and sweet, lacking the wild opening of Oud Hindi or the dry bite of Oud Cuire. These scents aren’t for everyone; it’s a taste you earn without prejudice and with a sense of humor. Highly recommend buying samples—I don’t get why commercial brands don’t do this; it feels like an Al Faransi innovation that turns these oils into a journey and exploration rather than just a signature scent. I advise against buying in bulk without trying first. I’ll probably order more samples; it’s fascinating, terrible, and beautiful. I say terrible because some openings are so radical they smell like camel pens, cured leather shops, or bazaar sweat, until they dry down to burning wood in a desert night fire.
