I’m torn on this perfume. There are moments I dislike it and moments I like it, leaving me stuck in the middle, unsure if it’s for me. It opens with a very camphoraceous floral note—so strange and annoying, at least for me, I didn’t enjoy it at all. Within minutes, that camphor fades, revealing the floral notes in more detail. It’s a bit of a floral mess with a hint of rose, though nothing remarkable. These flowers are mixed with traces of that initial camphor sensation, but much less intense; even so, the resulting scent still doesn’t appeal to me. Then, patchouli joins the florals, creating a floral and earthy aroma with mentholated nuances over a creamy background of warm woods. From here on, the scent starts to grow on me. The woods take center stage during the dry-down, featuring sandalwood with dirty oud nuances and a tiny touch of sweet, warm vanilla and amber, while residual notes from the flower-patchouli blend float around. This dry-down is wonderful. It’s a shame that the opening was so unfortunate, because without it, this would be a masterpiece. But I fear that opening will be a drag; at the very least, I won’t be buying a full bottle. The scent is original—I’ve never smelled anything like this—and it’s not excessively Arabic, but that camphoraceous opening throws me off. I don’t start enjoying it until those notes disappear completely. The longevity is excellent, lasting more than 8 hours on skin. The sillage is very noticeable at first but stabilizes to a moderate level within half an hour. It’s a fragrance for cool and temperate climates, suitable for day or night wear. As for my recommendation, I wouldn’t suggest buying it without testing it first. So, if you’re interested in this concoction, buy a sample before committing to avoid disappointment.
