Since it’s already in the FragranceNet database, I’m copying my previous review of this Oud is Great. It wasn’t on the list, so I thought this was the place to put it on the radar for those interested in equivalents to Initio’s Oud for Greatness: this new launch by Zimaya. In other countries, it’s made by Noya, and in the end, it turns out that both Zimaya and Noya are secondary brands of Afnan. The presentation is very good: a hard cardboard box with gold bas-reliefs, a black bottle with a gold engraved metal plate, and a heavy, voluminous cap, although it doesn’t close well. The advertised concentration is perfume extract, but when applied, it doesn’t leave the skin oily like the Oud for Glory by Lattafa does. That doesn’t define the concentration; sometimes that greasy feeling comes from adding IPM or DPG. I don’t have the original Initio, but I do have the Oud for Glory by Lattafa and the Celebi equivalent (and now this Oud is Great). To my nose, the three inspirations are indistinguishable. It’s that curious scent different from burnt sugar and wood. As for longevity, the Celebi one exceeds 10 hours (but it costs more than 40€ for 50 ml); second place is the Oud for Glory by Lattafa with about 7-8 hours; and last is this new Oud is Great by Zimaya with about 6 hours (although I should let it macerate for a while and it will surely improve noticeably). The projection isn’t huge, but whoever gets close will notice it. In conclusion, in terms of quality-to-price ratio, I stick with this new Oud is Great since it costs half as much as the Oud for Glory. What I don’t understand is why Afnan launched this if they already have their Supremacy in Oud.

I stumbled upon this perfume by chance in a Fragantica review while looking for a dupe for Initio’s Oud For Greatness. Surprise! It’s a masculine fragrance, deep and long-lasting, but not invasive; when someone gets close, they ask you to smell it in depth. Obviously, it’s not pure oud, but they’ve made it very rounded. If the Initio one is better, it must be crazy, and if not, don’t miss this gem for about 18€. PD: if you’re not used to oud, give it a chance; it will conquer you.
The opening smells like pineapple, then it’s a very delicious perfume, ideal for cool weather. I haven’t smelled the Initio one, so I don’t know how good a clone it is, but I’m happy with this. If you’ve already heard of the Fougère Royale by Houbigant, you’ll remember it; this perfume has base notes that remind me of it a lot. It also reminds me a bit of the V by Valentino when it dries down, with a woody touch, patchouli (though less), and musk. It’s a nice fragrance that steps away from the Lattafa line, which smells like vanilla to everyone, haha. Let’s see if I discover more nuances over time; for now, for the price, I’m more than happy. A perfume that could easily become hype, and for a reason.

It pleasantly surprised me a lot. I’ve already heard of the Lattafa one, and I think this is quite better: more power and an aroma I like more. As for longevity, I don’t know how long the Lattafa lasts, but this one lasts at least ten hours.
I’ve gotten used to it over time. It doesn’t even have oud, or at least you wouldn’t expect it; it’s an accord that reminds me of a sweet, medicinal oud, like caramelized sugar. You can smell the lavender and nutmeg, which give it a masculine edge, though overall it’s unisex. It’s softer than the other Lattafa clone (and cheaper), making it very versatile; I was expecting something less usable. My only complaint is the classic one with these perfumes: you have to let them mature for months to make them more robust and long-lasting (right now it lasts 8 hours, but when it arrived it lasted only 2 or 3). Also, the atomizer is terrible. The box and bottle say it’s an extract, which I don’t believe. I recommend it; for 15-18€ you can find it at least on Notino.
This is an intense fragrance with a more masculine vibe, but an empowered woman can wear it without any issues. The spicy notes really stand out, and since it’s an extract, the longevity on skin is excellent, though the trail is quite intimate.

It’s one of my favorite perfumes and the one I use for special occasions. Since it’s hot here, it’s perfect for dinner or going out at night when the weather cools down; it’s wearable. The trail is top-notch; my wife loves it (which is why I save it for those nights). I already owned the Oud for Glory by Lattafa, but this one is much better; although they’re about 90% similar, this one wins.
It’s one of my favorites now; I only use it for special occasions. Since it’s so hot here, it’s perfect for dinner or going out for a drink when it cools down. The trail is incredible—my wife loves it (which is why I save it for those moments). I tested it against Lattafa’s Oud for Glory, and while they’re about 90% similar, this one wins by a landslide.
Oud Is Great summary: a hit of saffron with a very subtle plastic undertone.
