First impression was disappointing: I assumed it didn’t justify the nearly €6/ml. I expected a more polished and potent EDP, but the opening is different. The oud is identical to the EDP: dry, smoky, and woody, followed by an incense note that sounds forced and unnatural. Over time, the incense fades and the oud is joined by what I believe is labdanum; the EDP felt more linear. The issue here is that it doesn’t shine or feel crisp, and at this price, it should. The performance isn’t bad, but it doesn’t reach the level of Promise or Black Tie. For me, it’s not a dealbreaker, but I expected more based on what I’d read. It lasts a long time with a little bit, even though the marketing suggests otherwise. Perfumes for luxury boutiques or five-star hotels.
