Descripción
Note de Yuzu by James Heeley is an aromatic citrus fragrance designed for men and women. Launched in 2017, this composition was created by James Heeley himself. In its opening, the fragrance unfolds a fresh effervescence of yuzu, grapefruit, and mandarin. The heart reveals a marine salinity evoked by the combination of sea salt and seaweed, while the base settles on a white musk and a characterful Haitian vetiver.

The opening is the richest and most pleasant thing I’ve ever smelled: that vibrant yuzu with grapefruit is pure summer. At half an hour, the algae note kicks in and it becomes too marine. The problem is that at 45 minutes, it’s only 4 inches from the skin and the yuzu is gone; it’s left with just the marine base of another perfume once everything else fades away. That sweet base, with algae and yuzu, lasts on skin for about 5 or 6 hours. To sum up: the opening is very pleasant, but the charm fades quickly. There are other perfumes by the brand, like Sel Marin, that are more balanced. It’s not a bad perfume; maybe it’s just a matter of skin chemistry and in others the yuzu lasts better, in which case it would be worth it. It’s been giving me a headache and ultimately didn’t end well. The opening is spectacular: citrus overload with yuzu, sweetened by grapefruit and freshened by musk. The marine part is timid, and for the first half-hour, everything is impeccable. But then it evolves unnecessarily heavily, like algae and sea (similar to Sel Marin from the same brand), losing its initial charm and settling into a generic scent, like Acqua di Sale. I agree with @ngarcia’s good description, but I feel disappointed and wouldn’t recommend it. I only value that it’s evolutive, but it makes no sense to smell like something else after such a captivating opening. Rating: 6/10
Opens very citrusy and then turns into Sel Marin. In the end, I’m left with that marine side.
Much greener than Chuli, with a spicy touch but full of complexity, almost like peas. It brings me memories of peeling green beans with my grandmother, but it’s fresher and more ethereal.

It opens super citrusy, like breaking a fresh fennel branch. On skin, it evolves incredibly fast into something warm and very subtle, totally different from the start. I think it’s Haitian vetiver; I can smell it, but it has nothing to do with that potent green opening. The salt is noticeable from the very first moment. It’s a shame because I love that initial freshness, but it doesn’t last; on clothes, it will hold for an hour or two.
