The opening is juicy and immediate: freshly cut mango and passion fruit, bright, sweet, and slightly tart. Then the fruit loses its shine and blends with flowers that add elegance. The jasmine isn’t dramatic; it’s a white veil that tames the tropical heat. As it settles, it becomes creamy, nostalgic, and intimate. In the final phase, it smells of wet earth under the sun after a summer storm. Nirmala is a tropical stroll at dusk, bathed in light but signaling the day’s end. You turn the corner and see your favorite bar, a woman sipping a golden cocktail through the glass. You’re tempted to try it, sit down with a sea view, and enjoy that light joy that invites you to deviate, improvise, and savor the unexpected.
The opening is juicy from the very first second, with that mango and passionfruit blend that seem freshly picked… bright, sweet, and slightly tart all at once. After a few minutes, the fruit loses its fresh pulp shine and melts into flowers that add an elegant touch. The jasmine here isn’t dramatic; it’s a white veil that tames the tropical chaos and lends a serene shape. The evolution doesn’t stop there; once the perfume settles, a new play of notes emerges, making it creamier, more nostalgic, and intimate. Even in its dry-down, it evokes the scent of wet earth warming under the sun after a summer storm. Nirmala reminds me of a tropical walk at dusk: there’s still light, but the day is ending, and you decide to head home. As you turn the corner, you catch a glimpse of your favorite cocktail spot, and through the glass, you see a woman sipping a golden drink. You’re tempted to taste it, and almost without thinking, you take a seat by the sea to discover that cocktail. That perfume is that light joy that invites you to stray from the path, to improvise, to savor the unexpected.
As a lover of tropical scents, I absolutely adore Nirmala. The opening is incredible, bursting with passion fruit and a zesty grapefruit note that saves it from the typical cloying sweetness of modern tropical fragrances. It’s not a gourmand that clogs the market; it has personality. As it dries down, the passion fruit recedes and subtler notes emerge, making it elegant and urban. This is my top Molinard discovery this year and my favorite from the French house.
As a huge fan of tropical scents, I really enjoy Nirmala. Its opening is sensational, packed with passionfruit accented by that citrusy tartness from the grapefruit, which sets it apart from the typical overly sweet tropics flooding the market right now. This perfume is absolutely not one of those sugar-coated gourmands that are taking over. Nirmala has more personality and isn’t a standard tropical; in fact, as it dries down, the passionfruit presence fades considerably, and other notes that are far less beachy or summery take the spotlight, transforming it into something more elegant and urban. For me, it’s the biggest Molinard discovery of the year and the fragrance I love most from this French house.
