About New Wave
Merit New Wave: A Bright Floral Warmed by Honey and Incense
New Wave by Merit is a Floral fragrance for Women and Men released in 2026. It was created by Dominique Ropion and Meabh McCurtin.
It pairs a spiced, green opening with a white- and yellow-floral heart sweetened by honey, set over a deep base of resins, woods, and vanillas.
The opening brings together pink pepper and angelica. The pepper adds a rosy, lightly fruity sparkle, while angelica keeps things green, herbal, and musky, holding the start light before the florals unfold.
At the heart, orange blossom shows a clean, radiant white-floral side next to ylang-ylang, which feels creamier and sunnier. Honey wraps both in a thick golden sweetness that lines up with the honeyed, white floral, and yellow floral tones.
The drydown is broad and enveloping: incense and olibanum incense with labdanum and benzoin build the resinous, ambery core, softened by vanilla, vanilla bean, and tonka bean. Musk adds a powdery, soft veil.
That amber block rests on woody notes, cedar, vetiver, patchouli, and cypriol (nagarmota), touched with tobacco, ambrarome, and ambroxan. Together they explain the musky, sweet, amber, vanilla, woody, powdery, and softly spiced character, while the floral thread stays present.
It will suit anyone who likes a sweet, resinous unisex floral centered on orange blossom, honey, and vanilla, with an incense-and-woods base that feels cozy rather than heavy.
New Wave moves in a clear arc: spiced freshness, honeyed bouquet, then an ambery, woody drydown. A 2026 creation that joins floral brightness with the depth of resins and vanillas.
