  • Jovanovic plays his fetiche card in Monsieur: patchouli. It evokes 70s classics like Givenchy Gentleman, but with a brutal, modern twist. With 50% patchouli oil—a rare feat—it’s addictive if you love wood; I certainly do. At first sniff, I was knocked out: a dramatic, dark, and elegant opening. The orange, aldehydes, and the camphoraceous touch of wood with suede slap you like a leather glove. It’s unusual, but it begs you to keep smelling. The high-quality rum sweetens it and adds character, making it very masculine. It blends with cedar and incense for a mysterious, sensual aroma. The vanilla and amber dry-down softens that heat on the skin, while the musk ties everything together perfectly. The result is modern, potent, original, and highly wearable. It’s a serious piece of work that I adored. Jovanovic plays with masculinity and sensuality like Cary Grant, Marlon Brando, or Sean Connery. A work of art within everyone’s reach. Rating: 9.1

  • At first, it smells of orange patchouli with liquor. Then the smoke kicks in, gaining presence among the other ingredients. The patchouli remains, but blended with incense and extra notes, so it doesn’t stand out too much. Cedar gives it a strong masculine character. At the end, vanilla appears very subtly; the orange and liquor are almost imperceptible, leaving only a hint of smoky patchouli. Performance on my skin was terrible—I could barely smell it unless I got close. I didn’t wear it in a crowded place; it just doesn’t work with my chemistry. Ideal for cool climates and totally masculine, though that’s subjective. I like the scent, especially the impactful opening, but due to the poor performance and price, I’m passing. Still, give it a try.

Absolute masterpiece, I think it’s Jovanovic’s best. It opens with an earthy, potent, and intense patchouli that eventually yields to a citrus touch, followed by the sweetening note of rum alcohol. After five hours, it settles into a super interesting and sexy chocolate-orange vibe. I wore it for something special: the opening didn’t win everyone over, but the drydown left most people addicted. Lasts over 10 hours on clothes even after washing. Best for ages 30+.

A masterpiece by Jovanovic: earthy, potent patchouli with a citrusy opening. Within minutes, the boozy rum sweetens everything. After five hours, it settles into a flat, chocolatey-orange tone that’s sexy and interesting. I wore it for a special occasion; the initial impression wasn’t a hit for everyone, but the dry-down is addictive. Brutal longevity: +10 hours on clothes even after washing. Ideal for men over 30.

  • The name fits perfectly: Monsieur. It smells like everything classic that word implies—eternal, traditional, reliable, and secure. Deep patchouli with forest echoes, accented with amber, wood, and smoke. It’s exactly what historical masculinity aimed for in scent. Imagine the gentlemen on the Titanic smoking and playing poker; they smelled like this, that very defined masculinity expected of them. Because of this classic charge, it has something familiar to everyone, because we’ve all had grandfathers, uncles, or fathers who smelled like ‘Monsieur’. It’s a bottled memory; in my case, my pediatrician smelled like this. That masculinity that conveyed security, reliability, warmth, elegance, and seriousness. Merci, monsieur.

Malle understood his company as an editorial where perfumers had total creative freedom, an undeniable merit. Here, patchouli reigns in an unusual concentration, so if you don’t like it, we’ll warn you: it starts very intense. There’s a subtle mandarin note that adds freshness. What’s interesting is its multifaceted development: after two hours, that patchouli hammer softens and blends with rum, surrounded by woods and spices, almost smelling like pine. In the dry down, the woods and spices yield to a sensual mix of vanilla and amber. It’s a soft finish where the woods are barely noticeable. It unites the classic with the modern in a sophisticated way. Not recommended for fans of commercial perfumery.

  • I started with a sample and it didn’t convince me at first. With time and repeated wear, I began to appreciate its scent. Highly recommended for any occasion, especially in the cold (autumn, winter, and early spring). There is no other perfume that smells quite like this.

  • Masculine, elegant, mature, and sober. A spectacular patchouli. A true beast of a fragrance.

  • This perfume is olfactory brutalism. The most beastly and impactful thing I’ve ever tried; next to it, everything else smells like a child.
