Live Irrésistible by Givenchy

Live Irresistible smells like fruit and honey, very cheerful and flirty; it seems more mature to me than the Very Irresistible line. I’m not a fan of the lily note, which on my skin smells like burnt caramel, just like in Brit Rhythm Floral, but the tropical fruits (pineapple and passionfruit) stand out as juicy and honeyed. The projection is excellent, very noticeable and long-lasting.

For those who think it’s tropical based on the listed notes, DON’T! It’s powdery floral, lots of talc and flowers, nothing fruity or sweet. It’s too generic, something you’ve smelled a thousand times with other perfumes. I had high expectations but it’s disappointing.

It’s a heavy fruity opening where pineapple and sweet passionfruit dominate; I don’t sense the flowers, but after a few hours it gets heavy, maybe because the pepper lingers spicy on skin and clothes. It doesn’t work for me in summer, it’s suffocating, but it’s delicious in autumn and winter. The trail is strong, lasts over 10 hours, or stains clothes for days.

At first, it smells fresh and fruity, but it lasts only seconds. Then it gets heavy; on my skin, amber stands out, it’s powdery, talcum-like, and strong. In the air, it’s cloyingly sweet. I’d use it in cool climates because it’s suffocating in the heat. It smells different on paper than on skin.

I arrived expecting a potent pineapple, but it wasn’t like that. The opening is powdery floral with a bit of fruit, and in the base, praline and vanilla. Nothing more; it’s something I’ve smelled elsewhere. I went along with the reviews and I don’t know if it’s my skin, but the pineapple isn’t there. I was disappointed. It’s not ugly, but it’s just another one of the crowd.

I tried it in-store and it smelled identical to what I smelled before: starts serious, fresh, and powdery, then turns sweet and nostalgic like Jeanne Arthes’ Amore Mio Forever. Later, it loses the freshness and becomes a milky, coffee scent, similar to Floral Shock—like a coffee with milk. Perfect for winter, and at the end, red berries with vanilla linger, reminiscent of Nina Rouge Extra. It’s sweet and beautiful; I hope it performs the same in the bottle. This will be the first Givenchy in my collection.

I swear, based on the reviews, I thought I’d love it, but this was my most disappointing blind buy. Maybe the mix of pepper and pineapple is my thing; my nose detects that smell too strongly and I don’t like it. I perceive it as more spicy than sweet, barely sensing anything sweet in the fruity notes. I’ll give it a chance, but I don’t think it will stay in my collection. I suggest smelling and testing it before buying. It’s not a simple scent.

All the notes shine in their splendor, it has great sillage, is ultra-feminine, and lasts a long time. On my skin, about 6-7 hours, and much longer on clothes; once I sprayed it on my jacket, stored it for several days, and when I retrieved it, it still smelled intact. Incredible. It’s one of those perfumes that gets praised a lot.

I highlight three main notes: pineapple, praline, patchouli, and amber… I like it from start to finish, but I recommend testing it first. Good longevity on my skin… it’s a beast, lasting more than 8 hours on skin and much longer on clothes; be careful with the sprays.

This EDP is love and not hate; it’s more of a contradiction. There are days I wear it and I love it, and other days it overwhelms me. It has good longevity, sillage, and projection. I use it in spring, summer, and autumn.

Now, for Christmas 2020, my parents gifted me a 100 ml reformulated bottle, and it smells incredibly heavy, nothing like before. It gave me an allergy, so I put it away.
