Descripción

Liquo by Angela Ciampagna is an aromatic fragrance for men and women. Launched in 2015, this composition was created by perfumer Angela Ciampagna herself. Its olfactory structure unfolds with top notes of lavender, violet, and lemon, leading to a heart of licorice, anise, hay, and coumarin. The dry down is defined by vetiver, tonka bean, and incense.

  • From the start, you can detect anise and licorice with a salty twist I can’t quite place; it’s not typical sea salt, but rather salt sprinkled over the anise and licorice. I barely smell the lemon; there’s no citrus at all. In the heart, the duo still dominates, the salt fades, and it becomes creamier thanks to the tonka bean, though subtly, more of a base. I don’t catch the incense well, but it must have its role. The dry down is similar to the heart but softer and more skin-hugging. It evokes coldness and sometimes loneliness, the latter being personal. It’s not citrusy but fresh and airy, nothing heavy. It can be worn in any weather, even heat. The performance is good; it’s not powerful but lasts quite a while. Maybe its strength is that, the longevity (and the great scent). Although it’s unisex, it sounds more masculine to me due to the anise. I love it so much; anise perfumes usually don’t attract me, but this one has enchanted me. The star notes are anise and licorice from start to finish, but I think that salty opening-to-heart transition is what hooked me. It’s rare because I’m not a fan of salty or aquatic scents either. It’s inexplicable but seems exceptional to me. Its surprising performance (they say it’s weak) is a plus. Though the price is a downside, I still recommend it to any fan of its main notes.

  • Anise and licorice are noticeable from the very first moment, along with a salty touch I can’t pinpoint. It’s not the typical sea salt often found, but more like a pinch of salt sprinkled over the anise and licorice. I barely detect the lemon; there’s no citrus. In the heart, the anise-licorice duo still dominates, the salt decreases, and it becomes slightly creamier, likely due to the tonka bean, but without overdoing it, more as a base. I also don’t smell much incense, but it surely does its job. The dry down is like the heart but much softer and clings more to the skin. It evokes cold sensations and sometimes loneliness, the latter being my personal take. It’s not citrusy but fresh and airy, nothing heavy. I think it can be worn in any climate, even with heat. The performance on my skin is good. It doesn’t stand out for power, but it lingers for quite a while. Maybe its strength is that, the longevity (and the great scent). Although labeled unisex, it smells more masculine to me because of the anise, which I associate with the male gender in perfumes. Personally, I love it. • I love how licorice and anise set the pace; it smells gourmand, almost edible, but with a smoky incense touch and a mysterious vibe. It’s perfect for a man, ideal for cool nights or winter.
