Sometimes I think Jamaican ambergris is the epitome of perfumery. I tried a decant of this wonder and understood all the hype around it. It doesn’t deceive: it’s a purple perfume, built on a concert of notes that are difficult to identify individually. What does stand out are three things: the notes that build the “purple sensation”, the oud that EO uses in many of its perfumes, and the ambergris, because when it dries, it leaves that note similar to dry saliva. Despite this description, the perfume is extremely pleasant, easy to like, not at all challenging, and of the highest quality. I would have to have a lot of money to think about spending 40K Mexican pesos (approx. 2500 USD) on a bottle. But I think it’s worth getting at least 0.5 ml to get to know it.
