Descripción

Iris Poudre by Frederic Malle is an aldehydic floral fragrance for women. Launched in 2000, this composition was created by nose Pierre Bourdon. Its top notes of ylang-ylang, carnation, aldehydes, rosewood, bergamot, orange, grapefruit, and juniper give way to a floral and woody heart featuring violet, lily of the valley, jasmine, rose, magnolia, iris root, leather, peach, and cyclamen. The base reveals the essence of iris accompanied by musk, sandalwood, vetiver, vanilla, amber, ebony, cedar, and tonka bean.

Yesterday I went out to take out the trash in these disgusting times we’ve unfortunately had to endure, dressed in my pajamas with Pierre Bourdon’s Iris Poudre by Frédéric Malle. I’m blown away by the iris in all its facets, and it’s… wow! It opens with a lost aldehydic note, loads of carnation, and boom 💥💥 comes the cinnamon, becoming super ambered. As expected, the iris crowns it all, hand in hand with some gorgeous aldehydes. I don’t categorize scents by age range or status because that’s absolute nonsense; I wore Baccarat Rouge 540 to the library in a hoodie and got away with it, but this… it screams meetings with important people, offices in luxury buildings, work lunches with New York stock market directors, and multi-level orgies in mansion palaces. It would be perfect for a Patrick Bateman (American Psycho). In short: incredibly elegant, distinguished, not highly powdery, and of such high quality it’s mind-blowing. I see it as very masculine. But this happens to me often with perfumes labeled for women; maybe I’m from a different generation and used to those being fruity-lushy?? No. It’s for whoever wants to wear it and that’s final. I’d gift it to my dad if he knew how to appreciate this kind of present.

  • VIOLET ON BLOOMING SKIN: The violet here isn’t your usual variety; it makes a bold statement, reminiscent of vintage candies but without the sugar that sticks to your teeth. It’s a powdery scent that doesn’t melt on the skin like soft cashmere, similar to L’Eau d’Hiver or Infusion d’Iris. Here, the iris is sharper, crisper, and uncompromising, revealing its purest and most austere side. A bespoke perfume for those seeking the elegance of violet without frills, without creaminess, just its sophisticated and ethereal essence.
