I disagree with the previous comment, because there is indeed an evolution, especially in the drydown, where what appears is already more normal and may ring a bell, but the opening and heart are complicated. This is a green, metallic incense, very astringent because of the galbanum, which joins the metallic notes and makes it seem as if you were sucking on a rusty iron sheet next to a freshly mowed meadow. Later, that complex opening slowly softens, and what appears is a tarred leather, as if it were soaked in dense pitch, and every so often gusts of galbanum keep coming through. The drydown is more common and something you may have smelled before, with that combo of patchouli, vetiver, and benzoin. The only drawback I can find is its longevity, which doesn’t reach 5 hours, and it stays very close to the skin. The bottle comes numbered because it is a limited edition that is given away when you buy on his website. It comes wrapped in a page from an Italian phone book and inside a newsprint-style paper bag. It has a matte gray metallic finish with a coin embedded in the cap, very original and very well finished. I have nothing similar in terms of scent and presentation, and honestly, since it’s a gift from Filippo himself, it was an opportunity not to be missed if you like this little world, and even more so with such a complete artist.

Apparently there are only going to be 500 bottles of this perfume, and what can I say? I think it’s super conceptual. Filippo Sorcinelli is exceptional when it comes to creating atmospheres with his perfumes. Above all, I’d like to consider this perfume as an artistic perfume, rather than as a perfume that aims to make you smell good (it’s totally wearable). I’ve had several very good experiences with Filippo: first there was Dolcissimo Sollievo, which totally transported me to a beach house with incense sticks burning next to me, and then Quickie and Coffee, which took me to a place as everyday as a gas station restroom when you’re on a road trip. But this Gettone left me disoriented. Unlike the previous two, which are quite warm and inviting, this one is cold and imposing; it reminded me entirely of an abandoned construction site: a lot of dust, cold, and vegetation. It maintains that composition throughout its duration; it’s quite linear, but that’s what I find magical about this fragrance. It’s the first time a perfume has given me that feeling of coldness: a wonderful work by Sorcinelli.
