Descripción

Epic 56 Woman by Amouage is a spicy oriental fragrance for women. Launched in 2021, this composition was created by nose Cécile Zarokian. The top notes unfold with pink pepper, cumin, and cinnamon; the heart reveals a bouquet of Damask rose, jasmine tea, and geranium; while the base notes settle on frankincense, oud wood, patchouli, gaiac wood, amber, sandalwood, musk, iris root, and vanilla.

  • The moment I added it to my collection, it smelled like total millionaire status, but I feel the maceration isn’t quite enough to reach that level yet. I haven’t sensed the beastliness I expected and did get from Interlude, even though this isn’t an extrait. We’ll see how it evolves over the months. On skin, it lasted about 24 hours at 5 cm from my arm; I could still detect it, but the projection isn’t brutal. At 450 euros, it could have been more, but the quality is absolute. In terms of projection, regular Interlude wins by two.

  • Seeing that I already own Portrait of a Lady, I noticed this decant of Amouage’s Exceptional Extraits is remarkably similar, especially in the first two hours. A balanced rose and patchouli blend dominates at first. Then, Epic 56 takes over with more nuanced, ambered, and slightly more masculine tones, while Portrait stays more linear. Epic 56 leaves a trail of elegance and refinement that few fragrances can match. Despite its name, it has a super unisex character; I’m a man and I absolutely love it. Watch your usage! This 56% concentration is brutal. Don’t spray it on clothes. On skin, you’ll notice it takes a long time to evaporate due to its oily density. The longevity is massive (over 12 hours for me), and the projection is strong for the first three hours before settling into a more contained sillage. Ideally, wear it below 20 degrees Celsius so it shines; at 30 degrees, it can be overwhelming. In my opinion, it’s best for men over 30-35 and women over 25. It’s a masterpiece and a beast. Although it’s pricey, there are sometimes deals worth it. I won’t buy it because I feel it’s redundant with Portrait, but if I didn’t have it, it would be on my wishlist without a doubt. A 9/10.

  • Review after trying the decant from the Amouage Exceptional Extraits set: Since I already own Portrait of a Lady, I find it quite similar, especially in the first hour and a half. Up until then, the balanced rose with patchouli is what stands out the most. From that point on, Epic 56 reveals more nuances, becoming more ambered or even slightly more masculine, while Portrait remains more linear. Epic 56 leaves a trail of elegance and exquisiteness that few fragrances possess. It has a much more unisex character than its name suggests. I’m a guy and I love it. Be very careful when applying it: do not spray on clothes. This 56% concentration is insane; when you apply it to skin, you notice it takes longer to evaporate and has an incredible oily density. Lasting power is enormous (more than 12 hours in my case) with good projection for the first three hours, then it settles into a more contained sillage. I’d wear it below 20 degrees so it stands out; above 30, it can be overwhelming. For age, it suits guys over 30-35 and girls over 25. It’s a masterpiece and beastly. Although it’s very expensive, I’ve seen sales from time to time that are worth it. I won’t buy it because it feels redundant with Portrait, but if I didn’t have it, it would be on my wishlist without a doubt. A 9 out of 10.
