If curiosity about Oud and Arab perfumes has piqued you, you know that beyond the classic oud-rose combo there’s a sea of options. I’ve tried attars and oils, but for something different and special there are few. Unintentionally, I stumbled upon this and bought it blind, very excited by recommendations from Arab houses. It exceeded my expectations: not for sensitive noses nor for judging by price, it’s a hidden treasure. The opening is truly fecal, dirty, and animalistic, a few minutes that taste like glory before you realize that this oud you smell… is it a kemi? Can’t be. Distinguishing between medicinal synthetic and natural, you can’t believe it. That peculiar opening, typical of exclusive perfumes, blends with a sweet accord of strawberry jam with threads of caramel, delicious. Spiced notes are appreciated and zero rose. In the evolution, woody notes keep the mystery. In the dry down, it’s wearable and projects an empowered image for about 6 hours. Watch out for projection: you won’t want to scare anyone, it stays skin-level but just right to feel it. Unbeatable price-quality, recommended for advanced users or those with the itch but don’t know where to start.
For anyone diving into the niche or Arab perfume world, there comes a point where you try oud beyond the classic rose combo. After filtering options, I found this hidden treasure blind and it exceeded my expectations. Not for sensitive noses: the opening is fecal, dirty, and animalistic, but in minutes you realize it’s a medicinal synthetic oud, not natural. It blends with an authentic strawberry, like jam with caramel, delicious, with no trace of rose. In the dry down, you note woody tones and it’s wearable with skin-level projection, perfect for feeling empowered. Unbeatable price-quality, recommended for advanced users or those starting the itch.
So far I’ve loved Rasasi, but here we need to be clear: you can’t make a luxury clone with cheap oud and expect something good; it smells like vomit in the opening. That strawberry-oud-musk combo is astringent and foul. They say it dries down sweet, but if you like strong strawberry kefir, maybe you’ll like it. In the end, it stays resinous-fruity, but to me it reminds me of when my mom came back from a party with vomit in her leather bag, or very ripe Jackfruit mixed with durian, a smell airlines won’t even allow. Some might like it, but I wouldn’t wear it even if I was drunk on wine. It’s a challenge that you might come to like with time, but if you’re attracted to the smell of vomit, congratulations.
So far my experience with Rasasi has been satisfactory, but with this fragrance I have to be clear: you can’t pretend to make a luxury knock-off with a pittance cost, because the result smells like shit. Gentlemen, in the opening it smells like vomit; that strawberry-oud-musk combo is what makes it foul and astringent, nothing pleasant or sophisticated. They say it dries down sweeter; well, if you like smelling strong strawberry kefir, you might like it, but in the end it stays resinous-fruity, almost fading. This perfume brings me two memories: first, when I was small my mom came back from a party and had vomited in her leather bag; that’s the smell. Second, my trips to Thailand with Jackfruit: sweet, smashed, but if it’s very ripe it stinks, like Durian. This perfume reminds me of that combo of ripe Jackfruit and Durian, a smell not pleasant to wear, some airlines even ban it. Some might like this astringent-lactonic-fruity smell, but it’s not my case, nor would I wear it even if I was drunk on wine. There are challenging perfumes that you develop tastes for with time, like with many niches, but if the smell of vomit becomes pleasant to you with time, congratulations.
Totally agree with the previous review. The opening surpasses the unpleasant, but it’s a hard hit at first.
I fully agree with the previous review. It’s an opening that surpasses the unpleasant.
This perfume has an inverse development to the usual. Normally, if there’s fruit with oud, it comes out first softening the scent. Here, the oud comes out first: fecal, wild, and hits hard. The strawberry takes over half an hour to appear, and it’s a very rare milky strawberry. Even without the oud it’s hard to understand and wear, but you have to be very brave to wear it. When you do, you understand the concept: it’s better to smell the whole. It could be a Tuscan Leather with oud instead of leather and strawberry instead of raspberry; an Oud Maracujá but rougher. It’s for lovers beginning with oud. The milky part is strange, but the dry down is rich, sweet, and pleasant, in an oriental style like Huberta or Shuhrah. Recommended for initiated noses.
This perfume plays the reverse game with its development: the oud comes out straight away, fecal and wild, while the strawberry takes over half an hour to appear, with a rare milky touch that makes it hard to wear. Only for the brave who understand that the whole is key; it’s like a Tuscan Leather with oud and strawberry, rougher than an Oud Maracujá. Ideal for oud beginners: the dry down is sweet and oriental, like Huberta or Shuhrah, though the milky part is strange.
