This fragrance is Miguel Matos’ TAR’s domestic version: less balsamic and more gourmand. It opens with an unofficial licorice-tinged burst that fades in two minutes, leaving soft leather and plum with that classic FB sexuality. It’s the brand’s least challenging scent, but that doesn’t make it bad; it’s the perfect gateway into the niche universe.

Francesca Bianchi is my favorite perfumer and brand since her first bomb collections. With Voluptuous Oud, I feel she’s aiming for mainstream, commercial tastes. It smells nice: woody, caramelized, talc-like, with her special leather, but it’s a conventional scent. The boozy, citrusy, sweet opening with an animalic oud note fooled me; it seemed like a risk, but the intensity drops quickly and it becomes identical to Divine Perversion, just with oud instead of raspberry. It lasts 15 minutes, so for the price, it’s not worth it if you already own DP. It’s a new disappointment because I’m still waiting for her next great fragrance.

Francesca Bianchi remains my favorite perfumer, especially with her early bombs like The Lover’s Tale. But with Voluptuous Oud, I feel she’s trying to boost sales with something more commercial and soft. It smells great: caramelized woody, talc-like, with her signature special leather, but too conventional. The boozy-citrus drydown with a touch of animalic oud seduced me, but it was an illusion; it quickly turns into Divine Perversion with raspberry swapped for oud. Lasts about 15 minutes, and for the price, it’s not worth the investment if you already own DP. A new pass that hurts because I’m still waiting for her next masterpiece.
Nomade
Voluptus Oud is incredibly delicious and wearable. It opens with mandarin and Cambodian oud; the oud is animalic up close but balanced in the air, reminiscent of Oud for Happiness. As it dries down (6-7 hours), leather takes over with a vibrant caramel note, vibrating like Babycat. Projection is moderate, and longevity on skin exceeds 8 hours. I was pleasantly surprised by how good it smells—it’s a great option for dipping into niche perfumery or trying Francesca.
