✨ Decadent Wonder (Maison Alhambra) caught me off guard from the first spray. The opening is what I fell in love with most: a fresh, sparkling tangerine with ginger and a soft cinnamon that makes it warm but very luminous. That opening is gorgeous, elegant, and addictive… although unfortunately it doesn’t last long on my skin. It’s a shame because I’d love to enjoy that part much more. Afterward, the perfume softens quite a bit. The heliotrope and jasmine appear very delicately, without being harsh, and the rose is almost imperceptible. The dry down leaves a warm, sweet vanilla, with a touch of heliotrope and a faint hint of cocoa and rum that barely register. The final result is a soft, feminine gourmand, ending in vanilla with a heliotrope nuance. It doesn’t have a huge sillage in the dry down, though it does in the opening. Still, it’s pretty, pleasant, and has a special sparkle in that opening that makes me happy every time I wear it. For me, it will be a perfume to reapply, precisely to enjoy that citrus and spicy opening again, which is the most magical part of the composition. I love how it combines citrus, spice, and sweetness. Also, it just arrived, and I’m sure it will improve with maceration. Still, for the price, it’s worth it. I would definitely buy it again.

I’m torn… I tried the original back in the day and it left me speechless. Now with Decadent Wonder, the opening smells nice, but it lacks the layered depth that Amouage has. I say it should smell like rum and cocoa, but on my skin it’s tangerine with a very soft spicy touch and a ton of ambroxan (even though it’s not listed). The longevity is short, about 4 hours. I’ll give it more time.
