When I like a perfume, I highlight the good stuff first and save the bad for the end; if I don’t like it, I qualify my opinion upfront to avoid changing my mind later. In short, I write for myself, not to please. And here’s the kicker: is this a hidden masterpiece? I’ve tried comparing this Cuba Paris fragrance to others, as is usual with the brand, but this time I’ll hold off because I simply can’t find anything similar. First and foremost: it’s a proper Oriental Fougère. If we understand that style as spicy-green (ferns) with a slight sweetness, this fits perfectly. The aroma of fresh wood (almost freshly cut) from sandalwood and cedar blends with an unusual balance of spicy notes (anise so authentic I hadn’t smelled it since the original Azzaro Pour Homme from the 80s), green notes (vetiver and lavender), and that unique touch of a standout sweet amber. The floral note comes from the delicious, masculine geranium flower. Personally, I don’t detect the declared citrus or rose. It’s ideal for mild or cold climates, for casual use (movies, eating at a fast-food joint, walking around the mall…). I’ve seen many people start by analyzing the price and not the scent, and I say that’s wrong; you have to start with what matters: the smell. That’s why I’ll save this for the penultimate paragraph: its cost-effectiveness, like most Cuba Paris scents, is simply unbeatable. Finally, the potentially negative side. I say ‘potential’ because I want the chance to buy it directly from Cuba Paris, as local market bottles, though cheaper, might be old stock; I mention this because the trail seemed low, and for a fragrance meant for mild-to-cold climates, I blame that sillage (and longevity) on the bottle’s age. Aside from that, I see no flaws. For me, it’s a masterpiece. I’m compelled to buy a second (maybe third) bottle… P.S.: I’d love to know more about this fragrance, its historical-cosmological concept, the nose behind it, and its launch year.
When I like a fragrance, I start with the good points; if not, I qualify my opinion upfront. I write for myself, not to please. This is a hidden masterpiece. I don’t compare it to other Cuba Paris scents because there’s simply nothing alike. It’s an Oriental Fougère: spicy-green with sweetness. Fresh wood notes of sandalwood and cedar blend with anise as real as the 80s Azzaro, vetiver, lavender, and a sweet amber, finished with a masculine geranium. I don’t detect citrus or rose. Ideal for mild to cold climates, casual use (movies, eating, walking). The price is unbeatable. The only negative is the sillage seemed low, perhaps due to it being an old stock bottle from the local market. Aside from that, it’s flawless. For me, it’s a masterpiece; I’ll buy more. P.S.: I’d love to know more about its history, the nose behind it, and the launch year.
Very mysterious, dominated by aromatic notes, especially sandalwood and lavender, though in the heat it reveals cloying floral undertones. After a while, the anise kicks in; I had to get used to it to notice it. Projects about a meter around, noticeable but not invasive, standing out for its originality. Lasts 4-6 hours (2-3 hours of sillage). Recommended for mild days, spring, or cool summer evenings. Great for late-night outings, hanging out, movies, or a bar with girls, though it can also add a touch of mystery at night. No regrets, highly recommended. A mysterious fragrance, dominated by sandalwood and lavender aromas that become slightly sweet with floral notes depending on the temperature. After a while, the anise appears; I had to get used to it to notice it at first. Projects a sillage of about a meter, noticeable but not invasive. Lasts 4-6 hours (2-3 hours of sillage and the rest on the skin). Ideal for mild days, spring, or cool summer evenings. Perfect for outings with friends, movies, or a bar with a girl, though it can also add a certain mystery at night. No regrets, definitely. I love it! If this fragrance had better longevity or sillage, it would be an easy hit among designer brands. But it’s exactly what you get for the price: equivalent to those cheap pocket perfumes for occasional use, unlike designer brands that last 6-10 hours. As for the scent, I don’t know if it’s just me, but it smells like quite sweet tobacco. I can’t find the lime or floral notes anywhere.
I love it! If it had better longevity or sillage, it would be an easy hit among designer brands. But it’s exactly what you expect for the price: affordable pocket perfumes for occasional use. Unlike quality brands that last 6-10 hours, this is for special occasions. Smells like quite sweet tobacco; I don’t detect the lime or floral notes at all.
One of the first I could afford, and it has a very distinct scent I haven’t found anywhere else. It’s wood with a touch of unlisted but palpable tobacco, perfect for casual wear or hanging out with friends. The downside is it doesn’t last long, but the projection is decent for what you pay.
One of the first I bought, and it has a very particular aroma that I haven’t found a match for in other fragrances until today. It feels like woods with a touch of unlisted but palpable tobacco; it’s ideal for casual wear or a weekend with friends. The downside is it doesn’t last long, but the projection is decent for the price you pay.
Snagged this for three bucks. Smells like a semi-silver-haired, green Casanova. Look, at that price, what more could you ask for?
Bought it because it was three dollars. Smells like a semi-silver-haired, green Casanova. So, for three dollars, what more could one expect?
