  I grabbed this on sale for $100 for 75ml (supposedly $140), and while I usually get lucky buying blind, this time the price-to-quality ratio wasn’t worth it. The opening is the best part: at times it reminded me of the Cognac Courvoisier VSOP I tried years ago, with those floral and cedar notes giving it a noble touch. That impression lasts an hour or two, then it settles into florals, cedar, and amber. The dry down is soft, and I did note vetiver, but I didn’t detect the mandarin, tea, leather, or fir well. Fragrantica’s comments are confirmed: it smells interesting but fades too quickly for an Eau de Parfum at this price; here in the US, for $100 I’d take any 100ml Chanel. The sillage is moderate (even though I apply a lot), drops to weak after six hours, and stays skin-close afterward, though it’s still detectable after twelve. The longevity is good, but the sillage could be better. It’s not as youthful as they aimed for men aged 25-35; I see it more for those over 30, ideal for winter or fall, special or intimate nights, not for partying since it lacks the punch for polluted environments or strong scents like 1 Million or 212 Sexy Men. The good: it’s well-classified as Oriental Woody, the notes smell natural, it’s relatively original and less mass-produced (thanks to that fine cognac touch), and the bottle is luxurious. The bad: it’s pricey if you consider the price-to-quality ratio (with better sillage, the criticism would change), and the designation is somewhat misleading; it feels more like an Eau de Toilette than an Eau de Parfum.
