Descripción

Cigar Black Wood by Rémy Latour is a spicy woody fragrance for men. Launched in 2014, this composition features an olfactory pyramid crafted by its creator. The top notes unfold a warm and exotic opening with nutmeg, saffron, bergamot, and grapefruit. The heart reveals a creamy and floral blend thanks to coconut, lavender, myrrh, and violet. Finally, the base notes anchor the essence with a robust foundation of tonka bean, guaiac wood, patchouli, and cedar.

A fresh, pleasant, sweet, and slightly smoky aroma. Excellent value for money, offering a lot for a small investment. I detect a lot of coconut and citrus at the start; then it becomes sweet and captivating with medium intensity and delicious woods. It’s the classic fragrance where you expect little but are pleasantly surprised. It plays in the same league as Franck Olivier, Lomani, and Jeanne Arthes: worthy products at a fair price. I’ll try other offerings from this house because I liked Cigar Black Wood.

  • I fondly remember Remy Latour’s Cigar Classique and the Commander, which was the same idea but more herbal. Jerry Drake told me about Wood Noir and sent me a sample; I wasn’t expecting anything bad from this house. Black Wood offers a rich, dense, sweet, and fresh fruity opening, from which an original coconut note gradually emerges, surrounded by full-bodied aromas like cedar and something akin to incense. Its nuances are turned up to the max, almost loud, and despite being an oriental, it leans heavily sweet. Don’t expect something very natural, but it doesn’t need to. The concept is perfectly represented: it’s an unpretentious fragrance that delivers on its promise. Over time, the cedar stands out more, starting to resemble Silver Quorum or parts of Zino Davidoff. Very pleasant, festive, with great performance. It works as a versatile, playful, and mischievous all-rounder, thanks to its woody base that sets it apart from juvenile or trivial proposals.

A nearly festive, sweet, spicy aroma with hints of coconut and wood. It belongs to the Spice Bomb and Man in Black family, perfect for Christmas or hanging out with friends. An interesting perfume that does exactly what it sets out to do.

  • I went for the French version, and what a difference—absolutely magnificent! A masterpiece where cedar, saffron, myrrh, and coconut blend perfectly. You can tell the ingredients are high quality: that smoky, soft, almost ecclesiastical myrrh, paired with bursts of lavender and a touch of aniseed basil, creates that herbal garden-with-vegetable-garden vibe. I almost didn’t buy it because of the unattractive packaging, but what a mistake. It has a spice bomb turned up to the max; it’s a total gem. The sillage is brutal, on skin and clothes alike; after about 9 hours, you’re still leaving a trail.
