Catharsis is an interesting and intense leather perfume. The opening is very powerful, rough, and slightly synthetic, but it becomes much more wearable and pleasant as it dries down. The base features the classic rose/oud/leather combo, but with original nuances that make it special. The presence of spices stands out: powdered saffron, intense clove, and spicy nutmeg, giving it a very interesting touch. Then, the freshness of neroli and the alcoholic sensation of whisky, mixed with the floral and sweet character of ylang, create a very special atmosphere, reminiscent of The Door by DL Ruelen, but less animalic and strong, making it easier to wear. I find it totally unisex, ideal for cold temperatures, probably for night wear in winter, autumn, and the early spring months. In short, it’s an intense and powerful perfume, original yet maintaining the rose/oud line and that trendy oriental character.
