Descripción

Cape Wrath by BeauFort London is an olfactory fragrance for men and women. This creation, launched in 2024, is a new proposal signed by perfumer Euan McCall. Its top notes of angelica root, galbanum, elemi, and pink pepper deliver a spicy and earthy opening. The heart reveals resinous elegance with geranium, lentisc resin, and incense. The base settles on oakmoss, sea algae, vetiver, ambergris, and ambrette musk, closing the composition with marine and animalic depth.

It’s less dark than I expected, but it smells great, fresh at the start. Just put it on, will update later. Edit: 4 hours later, it’s gone. I can’t smell it on my clothes, and neither can my coworkers. Rare for this brand; my other fragrances from them are bombs, but this one…

  • I expected it to be wilder and more forest-like, but it smells fresh, aquatic, airy, soapy, aromatic, and mossy. It’s elegant, clean, green, and more classic than I imagined. The opening has a blue, earthy touch, and as it dries down, it becomes sweet and fruity, like calone, grapefruit, or watermelon. If someone wanted to transform Cool Water into a 21st-century niche fragrance, this would be similar.

  • I was pleasantly surprised; it’s one of the easiest to wear I’ve tried. The opening is impactful: aromatic, fresh, sparkling, with noticeable spices. Maybe there’s an undisclosed citrus accentuating the start. It shines a lot and gives off great vibes. It reminds me of the opening of Acqua di Gio (though it might not be), then shifts to an aquatic scene with non-salty algae, a pleasant soapy facet, and fine incense. Later, vetiver and moss take over, keeping the freshness alive. Unisex, perhaps slightly more masculine, wearable year-round except in extreme heat. Versatile for the office or daytime formal situations in spring. Flawless performance, lasting over 7 hours without being a beast in projection. For the price and format, it’s a great option for a fresh, different perfume.

  • So acidic and sharp that for hours it just smells like ammonia. Then it gets interesting, but those first 4-6 hours aren’t for me. I’m a fan of Pony Boy and Fathom V by the same perfumer, so I thought I’d love it, but it hasn’t been the case.

  • Cape Wrath could be your next signature scent: aquatic, resinous, and resin-forward. The only ‘catch’ is the maceration period; at first, the aquatic side isn’t as clear as it seems. The concept was to recreate a wooden pier port with a legume trade, something the resins and musk manage to evoke. It starts with a fresh herbal note, then the resins, woods, and musk blend in, making the scent less versatile and direct. It hits its target perfectly. Fresh out of the bottle, the resins are subtle against the aquatic and green notes, but after 6 months of maceration, they densify, creating the feeling of a sea-scented port with a base of cooked legumes. If you’re a collector who uses scents occasionally, give it another shot. If you have a small collection and want a signature, go for it. Just keep in mind that if your skin amplifies the resinous and sweet aspects, it might work better for you. It’s fundamentally for personal use once macerated, ideal for spring and autumn. Note: don’t wear it in the heat. Performance is solid, lasting 6-8 hours depending on skin and weather, with good projection for the first hour. As always, test niche fragrances on your skin before buying, especially from Beaufort. Don’t judge solely by the dry-down; your skin is the ultimate judge.
