Descripción

Brun Sicilien by Scent on Canvas is a leather fragrance designed for men and women. Launched in the 2010s under the olfactory direction of Alexandra Kosinski, this creation opens with Sicilian mandarin, white flowers, and jasmine; the heart reveals a blend of leather, suede, heliotrope, black pepper, cardamom, and musk; and the base settles on birch, Madagascar vanilla, Indonesian patchouli leaves, and amber.

  • Brun Sicilien grabs you immediately, designed to make a great first impression without being flashy. All the notes are refined and seductive: mandarin, leather, vanilla, and birch. Normally, I don’t like this kind of strategy, but leather is my fetish scent, so I gave in and tried it. On skin, the mandarin quickly yields to spices, woods, and leather; on clothes, the mandarin is slightly acidic with a dry, almost bitter sweetness. In my case, I only catch the mandarin subtly on skin. The best part is the union of leathers with a warm, velvety suede that adds depth, sitting atop vanilla and birch with a sweet touch sprinkled with spices and floral hints. It’s elegant, unisex, and the leather isn’t overpowering—easy to wear. It could improve on the drydown: after 4-5 hours, only vanilla remains, though it’s chocolatey and applying more spray boosts performance. Another downside is the very weak sillage; if you like to turn heads and want people to smell you easily, this perfume will disappoint you in that regard.

  • Brun Sicilien hooks you instantly without pretension, building a magnetic first impression with fine, seductive notes of mandarin, leather, vanilla, and birch. While I’m not usually a fan of this kind of marketing strategy, leather is my olfactory fetish, so I didn’t hesitate to buy it after testing it. On skin, the mandarin yields quickly to spices, wood, and leather; on clothes, that mandarin stays brighter and more acidic, with a dry, almost bitter sweetness. For me, I only faintly detect the mandarin. The best part is the fusion of leather with a warm, velvety suede that adds depth, settling over vanilla and birch with a sweet touch sprinkled with spices and florals. It’s elegant, unisex, and the leather isn’t aggressive, but it has flaws: after 4-5 hours, only vanilla remains (though it’s chocolatey and could be improved with more sprays), and its sillage is very low, which is disappointing if you’re looking to turn heads.

  • The floral opening of Brun Sicilien is a stroke of originality: white flowers and jasmine clash with a bubbly, sweet mandarin. The animalic base reminds me of Kerleo by Patou mixed with Le Labo’s Labdanum 18, but here it’s less fresh and more dreamy. The blend of leathers, suede, and the leathery touch of birch creates a rich, striking heart phase, though less bright than the opening. You can already taste the sweet notes of vanilla, amber, and patchouli. The drydown is pleasant, sweet, and warm—more classic and oriental, even more feminine than masculine. The quality is mid-to-high with an entertaining evolution; projection is moderate and longevity is good, anchored by resilient musks: one soapy, one floral with heliotrope, and one powdery. To me, this last phase feels out of place, a bit disjointed from the fragrance’s story, but then again, it’s all about taste. “The Colors.” A total delight. Rating: 7

  • The floral opening of Brun Sicilien is original and surprising: white flowers with jasmine mixed with a bubbly, sweet, and bright mandarin. I sense an animalic base reminiscent of Kerleo’s Eau de Patou and Labo 18, but here it’s less fresh, more dreamy and beautiful. The blend of leathers (suede, leather, and the leathery touch of birch) is executed flawlessly, creating a rich and striking middle phase, though less bright than the start. The sweet notes of vanilla, amber, and patchouli are already noticeable. The dry-down is pleasant, sweet, warm, classic, and oriental, even more feminine than masculine. The quality is medium-high, the evolution is entertaining, projection is average, and longevity is excellent; when it seems to fade, a resilient base of musks appears: one soapy, one floral with heliotrope, and one powdery. This last phase feels out of place to me, disjointed from the fragrance’s story, but then again, it’s all about taste… It was a delight. Rating: 7.
